Uh, how the hell do I play? I just punch? Don't I get magic to use? Pressing esc closed the whole program so I have no idea how I'd figure out what the controls are.

Developer

I'm so sorry. I put the interactions together last minute. You have to go to the door and press F to teleport the next room. And you hold Q to to open the spell menu.

Ah ok. Well I got in a room and fought some dudes and died.

I think it would be nice if all the spells were utilized the same? Like some I could hold the button down but some I had to charge and release.

I would prefer if the game only gave me one spell to start and then slowly added more so I understood them all.

Developer(+1)

Good idea! Actually I want to have multiple character like in binding of isaac starting with different spells. The other spells are rewards for completing bosses or floors.

It lags hard, but thats on me. I have a 980, not a 3090, keep that in mind, as a lot of Things probably are affected by it.

Opening the Quickselect menu briefly blurs everything, not just the background. Luckily there are Debug Strings in the Corner or I wouldn't know what Icon is what Spell.

Your Pixelation Effect doesn't affect the HUD. I'm assuming you're just using a PPVolume to render at halfres or something?

Movement feels floaty, increase breaking deceleration and acceleration.

Quickly moving the Camera or Punching allows me to see inside the Meshes for Arms and Feet. Also why am I naked? I'm assuming its a Placeholder.

First Spell equip debug message tells me I'm unarmed/The Name of the Last spell, even if I equip something, there might be something wrong there. Also only Debug Message on equipping Left spell.

I can attempt to cast a new fireball while the previous one casts, causing nothing to happen. Either lock the Animation fully, so I can't attempt a recast while casting, or have me hold to channel or something.

'Spells' seem to work, but as I already said in the Thread, some seem to be unecessary.

Went with double Blue Cross shooty thingy, because it just lags to much for me to change through Spells during Combat. Again, thats on my End.

Quickpressing Q seems to swap current to previous selection, thats neat. Only on the Left hand tho, thats odd.

Unless I'm missing something, the first Room has no Exit or anything, so I'm stuck with nothing to do.

I can also clip into the Face, and have no Reflection. And no Sideways walking animation for the Legs.

Had to scroll through teh Comments to figure out how to Progress.

Couldn't get past the first Room, its just lagging to much. Again, thats on me. Sorry.

Developer

Thank you for your detailed feedback and bugreport. I'll attempt to fix all those things including optimization for the next version!

- feels very floaty from the first few seconds, more like I'm controlling a car than a human
- game is much more visible with the lighter E toggle
- Q wheel + click the hand you want the spell in is not instantly obvious, usually games do drag into the direction and release, might need to be more explicit
- game just alt+f4s on death, brutal
- discouraging the player from using the same spell on both hands feels bad
- the pixel map is unreadable and looks more like the thanks doc meme than anything usable
- restarting the whole game on death is also tedious
- cleared maybe 6 rooms, didn't feel like trying to figure out where I didn't go, jumped in the pit, died, can still shoot while dead
- in the end, the gameplay becomes strafe in a circle while dash jumping and holding both mouse buttons down

Lacks tension for me, but I feel like you could easily pivot this into one of those meme survivor games, but 3D, haven't seen one of those yet and they thrive on no tension.

Developer

Thank you for your detailed feedback! I'll address those points in the next version. Hopefully I can create a more tense gameplay with better room design and enemy AI.

What do you mean by meme survivor games? I'm not familiar with that.

Vampire Survivors but 3D

Took me a hot minute to figure out how to play, I had to go to the game page to learn that Q brought up the spell menu. Visually it looks sort of neat, though it didn't run too well on my pc. I like the dual arms and spell casting + mana pool system you've got. At first it felt too slow, but once I realized I could dash+jump for huge distance it became way more fun and less 'slowly circle until they die.'

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the feedback! I'll add a menu, quick tutorial and some optimization for the next version.

Hmm, what am I missing here. I load up the game, and I'm in a cathedral, but there are no enemies, I can't exit the room, and can't seem to do anything. Also, wish I could change the mouse sensitivity because it's really really high for me.

Developer

You need to go to the opposite side of the room, face the door and press F. The crosshair turns red when you are in interaction range. Mouse sensitivity isn't implemented yet, I'm sorry :(

I didn't do a complete run but the game was pretty fun from what I played. It's not exactly intuitive which spells go with which of the three mana bars, I figured they were color coded at first but some of the spells didn't fit with any of the colors like the fireball spell. I also felt like the air dodge was a bit unwieldy and was flinging me ridiculously far but that could just be a matter of personal preference.

Developer

Thank you for playing and for your feedback!

I already have planned to rework the weapon wheel completely (better icons and mana bar usage) and introduce the spells over the course of the first level. The dash will also become an item  that can be stacked. So you need to watch out to not pick up too many dash items overwise it flings you around the map.

This game nearly got me banned on twitch because I looked at the naked lady.

I had a ton of fun with this. The spell variety is fun, the aesthetic is great, and the gameplay's super addictive. I'm gonna be playing more tonight to hopefully beat it.

The only nitpick I have so far would be with not knowing what mana what spells use - it might be beneficial to colour-code the spell icons in the wheel to show what type of mana they use. Either way, it's really fun and I hope you keep working on it. I'd absolutely buy it if you released it commercially.

I recorded my first playthrough, and you can find that here, whenever the video finishes processing:

Thank you so much! I'm so glad that you like it, this seriously made my day.

Yeah, the weapon wheel was a last minute addition as you can see on the hand drawn icons lol.

I absolutely plan on continuing it! Worked practically full time on it for the last 3 months. What you see now is nothing, I plan on adding so much more.

I tested out a few runs and lasted about 15 seconds in each one. The first room would absolutely demolish me since I couldn't clear the enemies fast enough. I tried out several weapon combinations (using both hands, of course), to no avail.

Probably could benefit from easing the player in a little - generally all horde shooters start off with 1-2 enemies just to see what their speed/AI is like, before spawning in hundreds of them to mob the player. I like the weapon selection wheel and different magic types, but I didn't last long enough to give detailed feedback.

The room designs are also very cool. Reminds me of 40K games with giant cathedral buildings and what-not.

Either way, this is definitely a game I'll check out again since I do like horde-shooters

Developer(+1)

Thanks for your feedback! I really appreciate it.

That sounds like a great idea. I'll make a system that assigns difficulty to rooms and spawn them in increasingly hard order.
