good job!
I really enjoyed this game! Mechanics, game design and setting are all very well thought out!
I also didnt expect to find Handsome squidward's cousin to upgrade my boat! 🤣
very cool game, im surprised you made such a huge game in so little time. love the whole concept and it just felt really nice to play.
Interesting, i could't play too much because theses characters make me feel uncomfortable, but this is surely a good game !
Oh? What about them made you feel uncomfortable?
Thanks for trying it out, though!
Well, i don't know why but i never liked faces like this, mostly memes like "troll face", "pepe the frog", etc...
This type of face always make me feel disconfort, i don't know why but it has always been like this 😅
I really like thess faces!
Becoming a deliveryman at sea is interesting. and the game functions are so abundant!
It's really really cool!!
I spent the most time on this game out of all the games at the jam. Just excellent work.(I upgraded the boat to level 2 in 12 days, I would have continued playing, but I had to hurry)
A couple of comments (it's still a 5 out of 5 for me, but these would make the experience perfect for me (6 out of 5))
Thanks for the feedback, I'm glad you enjoyed it so much!
I've received feedback about the font before, and changing it is the first thing on my to-do list after the jam.
The progression is definitely a bit off. I know that if I had playtested the game more thoroughly before committing to it, it could've been much better. In my experience, stone is the resource you get way too much of compared to others, so there's definitely an imbalance with the resources. I'll fix this after the jam, of course.
I'm extremely impressed by what you were able to accomplish. I really liked the idea for the game. I mean, you are basically just a mailman but you're also a mailman of the lake.
It took me a while to understand how it works, but the usage of the time of day to force you to think about how many parcels you can deliver is something that I really enjoyed.
The pixel art was really astounding and I don't think that the screenshots really showed that. Especially the animation of the boss screaming at you was really priceless. The music was cool but it looped in an odd way. I guess that also could've been out of your control.
I don't really think that the fighting was done all that well. When you're being chased you have 2 choices: run away or fight. If you do the latter you will however most certainly get hit because the enemy boat gets really close to you and you can't really strafe when looking at the enemy boat (even though you must face it to shoot at it). This meant that almost always the better tactic was to keep running away and strafe when the boat is about to fire. It was a lot better tactic than firing, especially after getting the speed upgrade. This irritated me a bit, but such a big game like this is bound to have something off.
As I said, it's really amazing you did all this in 10 days. Out of curiosity, how many hours did you spend making this whole game? As someone who's a solo developer learning pixel art, I would really like to know.
Great job!
Thanks for playing and for the detailed feedback!
The mastering of the music was a bit off. I tried to get it to loop perfectly, but I guess the end of it still had some effects that weren't at the start of the track. As for the fighting, I agree. The fighting wasn't really planned thoroughly, and I've added it to the project's issues. Feel free to provide any suggestions!
The time spent on this game was probably around 110 hours, averaging about 11 hours a day. The jam actually lined up perfectly for me; I was just about to graduate and didn't have any more schoolwork left, so I could focus on the jam 100%. It did cost me my sleeping schedule, though...
wow very impressive.
you did all within the timeframe ? insane !
it really looks like a complete game !
(long tutorial and uncomfortabke boat moving though)
Thanks for the feedback! I've added changing the tutorial and boat movement to my to-do list.
love the art style! personally wished the boat could move faster haha
I agree, the boat starts off a bit slow, but upgrading the speed to level 2 makes a noticeable difference—it gets much faster! But yes, I plan on changing it and finding a nice balance for it.
Thanks for playing and for the feedback! :D
the game is good, but i find it realy repetitive, the pixel art is good and the song design to, great job :D
I agree, the game can feel a bit repetitive, especially at the beginning before getting a speed upgrade. I'll work on finding a good balance between resources and upgrades after the jam. Also, to address the repetitiveness, I'm planning on adding more content to the water, such as different enemies, randomized events, and possibly even a whole fishing system.
Thank you for playing and for the feedback!
Pretty fun! I’m honestly impressed with how much content and mechanics you managed to fit in the game, especially for solo work. Assets are really good, and the characters are charming with their dialog and how they’re animated. My only nitpick is that I wish travelling was faster at the start because most of the time in the early game is spent looking at the minimap waiting for your boat to reach from point A to point B. Other than that though, I can see myself replaying this.
Yeah, I agree that the speed is a bit too slow at the start, or rather, the distance between islands is a tad too big, or both. I'll figure out a balance for it after the jam. Thank you for noticing that this was done solo, I'm quite proud of the outcome! I found working alone a bit difficult, since there are no other team members' opinions to consider, and it led to some questionable game design choices.
But thank you so much for playing and for the feedback! I hope you'll come back to the game once it's updated.
Good game! There are many things for being a jam game!
Great work on this, there's an impressive amount of content for a game jam game! I especially like the mechanic of delivering contraband, it makes the delivery a lot more exciting once you're getting chased by the other ships. It'd be nice if the UI reminded you somehow that it was getting too late, it seemed like it was getting darker but I couldn't remember what time I needed to be back the first night and I fell asleep at sea. This is really awesome tho, great job!
The clock below the minimap does flash one hour before you pass out, but I think it's kind of a poor way to notify the player. It was one of the last-minute additions, so I plan on changing it to be much more noticable. The same goes for the delivery timer; currently there is no way for the player to know how much time is left to deliver a package, I'll add that after the jam, as well.
Thank you for playing and for the feedback!
What a great little game, very polished for such a short amount of time, it's crazy how much you were able to fit in 10 days of work!
It's amazing that you have an upgrade and progression system! The UI design is really good too as well as the dialogue system. Though one gripe I do have is that I found myself staring at the minimap most of the time while playing instead of on the actual game. Though that might just be a me thing.
I actually found myself doing the same and I plan on changing it after the jam. Thank you for playing!
loved the idea and the me mechanics of the boat "spent so much time drifting :0"
Loved the game
Man I loved it, I played 20 minutes and I almost didn't notice the time haha, impressive how you managed to make this game in such a short time
i love the vibe of this game haha
