GrugMan rated Satellite Repairman

GrugMan rated a game 5 years ago
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux.

This game is definitely a must if you enjoy frantically solving problems and building defenses while chaos unfolds around you. The tutorial is delightfully short, but is extremely effective at informing the player how to play, having the player perform the actions described on their own rather than restricting them to only certain actions, which many games seem wont to do. As well, the tutorial is very similar to actual gameplay, albeit without the stress of missiles being fired at you, so it was very easy to translate the knowledge learned to the gameplay. As for the game itself, I found it very enjoyable to frantically prepare my defenses before the first wave of an attack, and afterwards prepare more satellites and defenses while simultaneously repairing the buildings that got struck by missiles I was unable to stop. The developers have really done a good job making it feel like your own fault when a missile hits, rather than just being a result of "bad game design". This allows the player to learn from their mistakes rather than just blaming the devs, which I feel is crucial. Every time something passes through the defenses the player thinks "darn, I could've stopped that", allowing them to grow from their experiences. Overall, this game is very enjoyable, and is definitely worth the 3.99€ (~$4.50) price tag, and I wish the developer the best of luck in their future projects.
