Meepalasheep rated Jack Razor: Distant Dimension

A downloadable game.

Cool game! I'm not familiar with Turrican, but I do dig run and gun platformers with a nonlinear structure. So this was a 3.99 well spent

I haven't completed it yet, I'm about 4 worlds in, but I wanted to let the dev know I'm enjoying what I'm playing!

I know that people tend to judge a book by its cover, but hey I make games, I get it. What I care most about is the underlying mechanics and ideas at play. That said - the aesthetic reminds me of my days playing Neopets minigames as a kid, I love that lol.

The only time that ever got in the way for me was the conveyance of certain mechanics and bosses. For instance, the slow fall by tapping jump was unclear if it was intended or not because there was no visual feedback for it, it just looked like the normal jump but stuttered. And I've programmed scuffed jump physics like that before lol

There was also a boss that you fight while on a jet ski. I could not tell if I was damaging it because there was no hit effect or flicker on it when my attacks touched it.

Although the worlds are numbered, I made a point to play them out of order. I really, really appreciate that. It required a bit of grinding and playing the shmup arcade game, but I did not mind that as the levels felt like they had multiple areas to explore.

This is an awesome (and quite big!) first game. You should be proud!

Super excited to see what you do with Jack Razor 2!
