Norton quarantined and removed Quadrilateral Cowboy

Hi all,

I'm sure I'm being dumb as this is my first time using itch.  I downloaded a few games from the recent bundle and when I went to run Quadrilateral Cowboy my antivirus (Norton 360) quarantined and removed the .exe filed for the game.  I am sure that the antivirus is just being dumb, but for my piece of mind...the .exe file is safe right.

Thank you so much for putting my overactive imagination at ease.

Probably. Files uploaded to Itch are already checked by an antivirus on the server side. And false positives happen all the time.

Hi,

I also use Norton and it gives me a lot of false positives. I've solved the problem by downloading itchio games only with the itch.io app. No problems anymore :)

I find it is still flagging Quadrilateral Cowboy. The next option I would presume is to try and disengage the antivirus (Norton) at least for this file?

Hi,

I've found the same. I can get past Windows Defender but Norton keeps deleting it (it says fewer than 5 people with Norton have used the application!).

How did you get around this?

you can uninstall it, many times it been shown that it doesnt not protect your computer and the "scans" are just listing the average number of user. It will only look for the same file (by name or code) as a virus, if it isnt a virus it will delete it.
