I have recently released my game Golfing Adventures - https://scriptline-studios.itch.io/golfing-adventures and despite posting about the game on itch.io, in discord servers and on sub-reddits. Nobody seems to be interested. If youhave any tips for marketing please let me know!

As you’ve noticed, promoting a game is quite difficult. There are so many games out there, and with game dev becoming more approachable with every new tool that its released, its inevitable that the market will be filled with games.

Here’s some feedback I can give by looking at your page:

  • It looks very simple. I see you have an artist in your team, I think it would be a great idea for the artist to update the game page, to be a little bit more interesting, and not single colored. That page is the first impression users get of your game, and at least in my case, the first impression is that not much time was spent on it, which sets my expectations low for the game.

  • The game itself could use some updated graphics. I adore pixel graphics, but in order to look right, they need to be consistent. From the footage you have on the game’s page, it looks like the background has big pixels, while the platforms have tiny pixels. This makes it look like a game with low quality assets, instead of pixel-art.

  • The game’s trailer looks nice, apart from hearing “Preview” every so often. This makes me think that the soundtrack was used without proper permission, which is unprofessional. This might not be true, and you might have all the permissions that you need, but a random user looking at your trailer doesn’t know that.

  • The game looks fairly simple. I’m sure I’ve seen other games with almost the same gameplay, but with more polish, made by bigger studios. I’d love to see some “twist” or something that sets your game apart. Maybe such a mechanism is already implemented, but not displayed in the trailer?

Please note this is my impression as a gamer, looking at your game for the first time. There might be similar impressions to other users looking at your game. Also note that I’m fully aware how difficult is making a game, let alone a successful one. Hope my remarks might help steer your game to the right direction :)

Thanks for the feedback! I will take this into account!
