Are there any itch.io success stories here? If so, could you please post all about it? I'm sure many people would love to hear about it!

Hello everyone,,

I've recently seen a lot of people post about itch.io and offering it as a suggestion for inclusion as a method to distribute and market your game/software.

The problem I have is this: I can't seem to find any study or otherwise source of information that demonstrates the end result of utilizing itch.io's platform.

I'm not saying itch.io is good, or bad, I'm simply saying that I have no idea. I would love to read other people talk about their itch-specific success stories.

So with that said:

Have you used Itch.io before? If so, would you please post about your story using them? Whether things worked out horrible for you, or very good for you, I would really appreciate reading what you have to say. The more details, the better.

Many thanks in advance!!

~~Dixon James

EDIT: In case it isn't clear, I'm not associated with Itch.io in any form or fashion. In fact, I only heard about them 3 days ago. I'm a Steam developer and publisher with a couple titles on Steam that are doing well and I'm always interested in other platforms that could help..

Can you define 'success'?

I know a few storys, one comes from VN community. As you might have heard or rumors of Valve deleting VN games, let me tell you it is real. Steam deletes VN which is a big problem. You already know that the $100 fee is non-refundable so developers who got banned or games remove lost $100 from Valve. Yes there is other stores but they sell more adult content than needed. itch.io is the best place for anyone to not risk $100 and sell a game in a site that isn't mainly on adults.

DDLC (Doki Doki Literature Club) started here, it become huge before it ever appear in Steam.

Gacha Life has a huge fanbase, the PC port is very popular.

Superpowers game engine and craftstudio got popular at itch.io

There is also many popular jams hosted, GMT, RPG Maker, Yogscast, NaNoRenO and more. Each has a story that has a game become popular.

This is a good thread, but I removed all the suspicious links from your post. Please do not do that, that is spam. (Note: this person first created the topic, then edited the links in a day later. To any spammers: Yes, our spam detector can detect that.)

Any links you add like that will be permanently added to our blacklist and banned across the site, and your account may be automatically banned by our spam detector. Don’t risk it. Thanks
