I have a decent pc it can run games like gta 5 on stable 60 fps. but when i play this game its always 15- 40 fps. I lower the graphics so much I cant read the words on screens. the lighting in this game is so heavy not the props.  lowest fps i get when im in the base (still low fps after clearing the base)

There are heavy settings that may be causing this. Each setting now has a description. They also have their performance costs listed.

Turning off shadows helps too.

Try taking some time looking through those.

If that doesn't help, then I have no idea.

I have a potato PC that can't even run blender and obs and it runs this game okay (~12 fps ain't cataclysmic)

playing at worst setting possible like scren res at 60% no shadows still get too low fps the only time i get good  fps is when i go to satalites for daily tasks (75 fps) and im not talking about the props. when electricity goes off the fps incrases to max so its probably lighting cause low fps at base

In that case I'd reccomend playing on max gamma and not turning on any base lights. Also turning off settings like "Sun Light" may help.

List specs. GTA 5 is  a12 year old game.

amd rx550 4gb

list specs means cpu, gpu and ram, not only gpu

An RX 550 is a low end GPU from 2017. If you've already set everything to low settings, then that's all the performance you can get.
Sorry to say, but you need to upgrade.

the games graphics are like half-life 1 it should not lag at all thats so weird

Gpu is not the only thing that runs your games smooth, VOTV is kinda CPU intense too and its made on Unreal Engine 4, maybe you see lo-fi textures and think the graphic is "HalfLife level" but it's not, it has a lot of advanced lighting/shadows and a lot of physics calculation too. Being in alpha stage, consider that the whole game is just poorly optimized for obvious reason.

do you have glowsticks up and are you using a pre patch save?

(1 edit)

when you load 0.9 save into the current version it will fuck with all the glowstick and murder your frames

(it also throws shit around for some reason)

no its just lighting at base and items drop under the floor that all i hate about votv

Use the Yeet Patcher in the latest version to change to the Vulkan API.

For it to work the votv.exe has to be in ".../WindowsNoEditor/votv.exe"
If you don't have the WindowsNoEditor folder or renamed it, it won't work.

Also Shadows are the biggest performance eaters in the game. Turn Shadows to 1 or 0.

These are my settings with an RTX 3060 12GB, with this I get constant 60 FPS inside the base (with all lights on) and outside, no problem.
I usually play with "Screen Resolution" on "80" though, as I can live with the FPS inside the base falling to 45-55.

This is on a screen resolution of 2560x1440.
Though I think it should look just as fine on 1920x1080 with Screen Resolution set to 50:

EDIT:
Ofcourse the RX 550 4GB is super slow nowadays, you can't even play Fallout4 with it and maintain 60 FPS.
I'd suggest, if you can, to upgrade your graphics card to an RTX 3000 series or higher, they currently seem affordable.

Thank you for your time writing this. fallout 4 is my most favourite game i get low fps there too like 45 fps max. but idk votv have like half-life 1 graphics the game not suppose to get low fps. shadows dont lower my fps only the lights at base. when the transformers turn off the fps skyrockets to 75 or when im out of the base gathering sattalite data. tried the vulkan mode get few more fps but the game needs to be optimized

It's Unreal Engine, this is pretty much the best you can get with an RX 550 tbh, it does need more optimization but you won't be able to do much on a card that old.

You never said which version of the game you're rocking, dude. People report getting low FPS on the new ULTRA MEGA SUPER BROKEN test build that is the "new" 0.9b.

My best guess is hardware issue. I'm not sure if it's related but the lights inside the base used to lag the fuck out of my game until I upgraded my GPU.

My "best" solution for this problem is to use glowsticks instead of the base lights. It won't solve the problem completely but it should make the game playable.

I'm talking about 0.9 and yes my gpu is weak but the game should not lag at all it has low detailed graphics
