My game (splinterfaction) does not show up from a search

Initially, my game was unlisted because I wasn't ready for anyone to see it. But then playtesting started and I set it to public but there were still lots of reports from people that could not find the game via the search.

I think this has been broken for quite a long time. Because there have been many times where I myself cannot find it using the search.

You game might have been placed back in the review queue after the latest changes to the page, but more likely it was overlooked by staff. I'll speed thing up for you.

Both your game and your colab game are indexed at the moment.  https://itch.io/search?q=Scary+le+Poo

The search suggestions appearing in the drop down box do not search all games. Only a tiny subset of games. Like 1% or less.

A game temporarily disappearing after an update is something that can happen.

I have not updated it in a while. It's been months since I pushed anything to itch.

I was showing that edit screen so that you could see it is set to public.

The page says you had an update 9 days ago.:

I made minor updates to the text on the page (iirc I changed like 4 or 5 characters?). I did not upload a new version.

Updates to the text on the page, no matter how small, will cause my game to be de-indexed until someone has a chance to verify it? In this case, that process took a week.

I get that you're doing this out of an abundance of caution, but still... That's a bit rough. I wish the edit page was a bit more verbose about this process.

Any change MAY trigger your project to be placed on the manual review list.

The algorithm that determines this is secret, but one day you can make changes, even upload a new version, and your game will still be indexed. Another day you might fix a typo in the text, and it will be sent for manual revision.

The time it takes to be reviewed and reindexed varies greatly, from a few hours to weeks (also remember that the staff doesn't work weekends). If a significant amount of time passes, you can explain your situation and ask the moderator if they can expedite the process.

By the way, this forum is answered by the community; the staff does not read or respond here.

Ok, I understand. I apologize for the confusion. As I said, I wish this were more clearly communicated on the page somewhere (maybe it is and I'm just blind). Thank you for the explanation ❤️
