Wrong statistics?

I have posted a game on the site that runs in the browser, but there is no way to download it (that's what I wanted). There is not a single download link on the game page, but in the statistics I see a number in the "Downloaded" section and this number is gradually increasing.

What do users download from the game page and how do they do it? Or is this a bug in the site?

I believe this is because of the Itch.io Desktop app. When users view browser games from there, it counts as a download on the statistics.

I believe the reason for this is the app is trying to cache the game so it can be playing even if you lose internet connection, but I could be wrong.

No. The statistics has the separate browser plays counter.

What Afloof.dev was explaining is if you use itch.io game console (desktop app) to play games, it does not show as browser plays, instead it shows as downloads.

If I go to your page on the internet and play your game, it shows as browser plays.

That's why you have both.
