Add proton support to the Itch.io launcher, and make Itch.io decentralized

In the last few days Switch 2 has been published, and with it a series of anticonsumer practices released in the videogaming industry
Something that a lot of people forget though is that Nintendo is also in the middle of a lawsuit against Pocketpair to literally monopolize the videogaming industry thanks to patented mechanics.
I'm quite scared from what will happen to the gaming industry the day Gabe Newell retires from Valve, so I was thinking that something very interesting might be if realities like Itch or Gamejolt go fully decentralized

As far as I know the Itch.io launcher is open source, so what if you go even more open source?
In the last few weeks I found out about a very interesting decentralized social network called Misskey, which was originally created in Japan many years ago.
At the moment their original server has over 600k users as far as I remember, but the best part is that they have an entire "servers" section in which people can decide which server to join, and all of the servers who have been created so far can be sorted by main language, members, and public or invite-only access, so that you can choose the best server for you to join

I think something like this applied to Itch might be amazing

Hope this helps

I don't really know about the chances on decentralized Itch but hell yeah dreaming is free and I completely support the proton request.

Proton support would be a huge win for Linux users—right now you have to manually configure everything outside the launcher. Fully backing Proton in the Itch app could lower the barrier for indie devs and make Linux gaming more accessible. As for decentralization, I love the idea, though moderation and support logistics would be the real challenge. Still, worth exploring.
