Yesterday was Steam, today is Itch, tomorrow is ALL THE REST.
BlackRock, the company behind Visa and Mastercard, is benefitting from a certain """conflict""" in a certain middle-eastern country
This says everything you need to know
You will own nothing, and you will be HAPPY

In the last few days Switch 2 has been published, and with it a series of anticonsumer practices released in the videogaming industry
Something that a lot of people forget though is that Nintendo is also in the middle of a lawsuit against Pocketpair to literally monopolize the videogaming industry thanks to patented mechanics.
I'm quite scared from what will happen to the gaming industry the day Gabe Newell retires from Valve, so I was thinking that something very interesting might be if realities like Itch or Gamejolt go fully decentralized

As far as I know the Itch.io launcher is open source, so what if you go even more open source?
In the last few weeks I found out about a very interesting decentralized social network called Misskey, which was originally created in Japan many years ago.
At the moment their original server has over 600k users as far as I remember, but the best part is that they have an entire "servers" section in which people can decide which server to join, and all of the servers who have been created so far can be sorted by main language, members, and public or invite-only access, so that you can choose the best server for you to join

I think something like this applied to Itch might be amazing

Hope this helps

I know it's a lot to ask, but have you ever thought about banning AI-generated games from Itch?
Ofc there can be some exceptions, such as games made by 15% of AI, and the remaining 85 of human art.
But I really hope you're going to prevent this, because I think trend is about to increase after The Scam before, and looking at what happened in the last few days on Steam I've really got a lot of bad, and I mean REALLY BAD VIBES about this.

Hi, I'm Andrea
I'm from Rome, didn't play that much recently, but I think this website's cool
Hope you're gonna grow up over and over again
Indie games are a very important part of the market especially in the future years ;)

Hi
Before saying anything I have to precise that I only use Windows at today's date, so that's not a post that I'm publishing for my own interest.
What happened to the Linux gaming community since the day Steam Deck was launched has been just incredible.
Many people can now play a bunch of Windows videogames without a single effort.
Unfortunately there are still some stores who don't actively support that OS when it comes to videogames.
In the last couple of years I've met a very special program called Heroic Games Launcher which basically allows you to do the same thing as Steam, but with other distributors such as Epic, GOG etc.
I think it could be a nice idea for Itch to make a partnership with them in order to expand this website's popularity (Heroic Launcher is open source, and their community is very welcoming)
From my side as a Windows user, the only huge advantage at using HGL is that I can install my Epic Store games without needing the Epic Launcher, but I think that you could certainly have something in return by doing this :)
Ofc that's just a suggestion ^^
