Outbound links in games, allowed?

I work with a small book publisher and I suggested some book themed games. So there'd be a game with artwork from the book. Then there would be an outbound link to the book's website.

Is that allowed? Is it bad form? I think I saw a prohibition on referral links, but this wouldn't be that.

I'm not sure which rule you mean, but it doesn't sound like something that would be frowned upon here.

Why would referal links be forbidden? You can have actual advertisements in games. Itch just has no site framework to support this. Discouraged are "obtrusive" ads. And of course hiding the fact, that something is an advertisement. There is a line between adware and software that has ads in it.

Thank you for that link. My brain must have been shut off this morning when I couldn't find the answer myself.
