Bit of an issue with the " Popular/New/Featured " games pages

Maybe this is just me, but I'm kinda sick of seeing the top 40% + of all featured games being either Horror, or a Porn game. And on the porn game subject, most of these are essentially clickbaiting people into clicking by throwing a naked anime girl on the thumbnail.

There's no regulation, as far as I can see. Why is there a bunch of porn and eroge/hentai/erotic games/visual novels mixed in with real games? Is anyone at Itchio concerned little kids might see this crap, lol? I really think porn games should be sectored off into their own area, and NOT featured on the dang front page. Itchio is full of little kids, as evidenced by the alarming amount of terrible " horror " games infesting the featured lineup.

You're making a lot of conjectures and assumptions there. Moreover, we do ask creators who publish adult games to mark them as NSFW. Games marked in this way don't show up in listings except for people who log in and indicate that they want to see them in their account settings. And we don't allow underage people to make accounts, as per current legal regimes in the US and Europe.

Now, if you're logged out or browsing in SFW mode and see a game with inappropriate content listed, please report it and a staff member will look into it. Could be an honest mistake, no need to assume the worst up front.

on that note, I'd like to add a number of games show up with incorrect tags,  like when you search erotic - plenty of the games there aren't NSFW in any way shape or form. This goes hand-in-hand with what I was saying earlier. There's a " system " but the devs are solely responsible for it, I don't see any enforcing on the moderation side of things.

Let me get this straight. Are you complaining about games that... don't have adult content?

Well, for one thing they could have such content, just not in the screenshots or video, or near the beginning. And then, many tags are subjective. Even if we could go around deciding for creators how their own games should be classified, it would be a bad thing to do. We do encourage them to use appropriate tags, especially with regard to genre and tools used, but we can't and won't proactively police what they do.

Once again, if you have specific complaints about specific games, please report them and other staff members will take a look. Thank you.

If you see games that are incorrect tagged please report them. There's a report link at the bottom of every project page. We can fix the tags, and if we identify people abusing the tag system we can limit their tag use.
