Does this make buyers trust you more?

I've been thinking about this topic for a long time, and I hope it will be a healthy discussion, I don't want it to become too politicized...

I have seen on the platform that some people use it and others do not.

(I'm referring to the old 9.99 trick).

Personally, I have always thought that not using it increases the buyer's trust, since you are not trying to trick their subconscious, and that makes at least the more "awake" buyers trust you more.

But on the other hand, my friends insist that I should use it....

What do you think?

I would like to hear from both buyers and sellers...

Getting rid of that cent saves people lives

why?

I mean... Has anyone used both techniques and seen the difference?

A lot of major brands do use the trick, so it might work. But with that said, it never had any effect on me because I ( and I think a lot of people ) have a habit of rounding close decimals. So 9.99 will naturally be perceived as 10. But this has never made me lose trust in a seller or feel exploited. Personally, I would just sell it at 10.

If it would make buyers trust more and if that trust would make them buy more, guess what the big developers would use as their prices.

Also, keep in mind that due to varying taxes and currency conversion rates around the world a lot of people won't see a price of $10 or $9.99 anyway.

It makes people subconsciously think it's a dolar less, so if you have a $1.99 game, it will feel to the buyer as $1.00 due to the first digit being one.

Yes, I know that...

The question is what is more effective, using that technique or trying to have a closer relationship with the buyer?

That is the idea of the topic.

Yes, this will definitely build a better relationship with the buyer and I recommend using it.
