My game not showing up in "most recent" after 3 weeks...

Hi to all the cool people here on Itch.io,

first of all sorry for this post in general, usually I try to chase every avenue how to solve a problem by myself but this time I´m desperate. My NSFW game HaremCards has been update with a new major version 3 weeks ago and it was not featured on the "most recent" tab yet. I already wrote to support twice but for 2 weeks I did not get any response so far. :-(

Would there be a mod willing to help me or just answer why is my Game not showing up in the most recent section? I do have a steady income of new players but the most recent tab always helps bump the numbers up a little.

Cheers,

Mr.Palm

PS.: My game is published and visible already - with many downloads and collections, so this is only about being featured in the most recent tab after a major update.

We generally tell developers that the “most recent” page is a bad place to market your game. Maybe it might work for some lucky people, but that page has hundreds of pages going through it daily. Your update was 18 days ago, that’s ages ago in terms of time for the most recent page.

Making a “Major Update” devlog may cause a bump on your page in our algorithm, but there is no guarantee. Establish your game in our system with regular updates and collect players and your page will be recognized by our system and be more likely to receive bumps from activity on your page. We can not guarantee traffic for any particular single page or developer since we are a public publishing platform with thousands of new pages created per day.

I recommend prioritizing growing organic traffic through your network. You can also use a broad range of tags & classifications to ensure that people coming from many different pages are able to find your page. Think of the traffic that itch.io gives you as a bonus on top of your own promotional efforts, please do not have the expectation that itch.io is going to give you all your traffic. itch.io has nearly 1 million games all competing for a small number of slots on the top of pages like “Most popular”, “Most recent”, etc.

Hope that helps

Lastly, please remove “Support not responding” from your title, please make sure you read the rules of the board before posting.

Thanks

I understand, thank you for taking your time explaining the process to me. I removed the part about support as requested.

Cheers,

Mr. Palm

That's because Major Release devlogs are first reviewed by staff and might not be approved. Please don't rely on your position in itch.io for traffic.

Hi, thank you very much for the fast reply, I understand, is there a way to know if my devlog even was reviewed and why was it declined? I included a very detailed list of new features, stories etc. It would be great if I knew what I did wrong this time that the devlog was refused. I could learn from it and make sure next devlog will be approved.

What makes you think you did anything wrong? There is no guarantee to get put into most recent.

But seeing your account is barely 3 months old ... whatever do you think a major update is? And how frequent do you think those are so that anyone would believe it to be a "major" update, especially if there are amost zero or no minor updates in between.
