"The House.exe is not responding"

Hey everyone,

When I play games from itch, usually .exe games, I usually get this pop up mid game that says:

"Game.exe is not responding. If you close the program, you might lose information."

My computer specs are more than enough to handle these games so I'm not sure why it keeps taking place.

Please help.

anyone?

I think you have no concept how vague you were in your post. There are near a million "games" on itch. And those games "from" itch have nothing in common besides being hosted there. It would not make a difference, if you got the game from itch, a message board, a file hoster, a mail from the developer or a usb stick you found on the street.

So unless the games you play share something significant, no one will be able to help you. Are all those games made in the same engine perhaps? I think some unity games call their executeable game.exe if the developers were lazy.

And no, there is not a gaming pc on earth that would be able to handle a very badly programmed game chunking itself against a wall. But several games doing that are suspicous. You did try the usual anti malware search pattern, did you?

To have a guesswork, you do not unzip the games properly and run them in temp folder or within the zip file, resulting in odd behaviour. Or some other obscure stuff. But also likely is, that something on your system is clogging up. And that can include anti virus apps. Assuming windows, just use your task manager to look at ressources, if something odd is happening.

Otherwise, it usually is an issue with the games in particular. So find the common thing of those games. Or do you claim you play all sorts of games and all of them stop running?!

Hello. It is difficult to try to help you with so little information.

For example, does the message say "game.exe" or do you mean "game" to refer to different games?

Do you use the itch app or download the games from the website?

Does it happen to you randomly or only with some games?

If it only happens to you with certain games, it is best to contact the creators of those games directly.

If the message says "game.exe" and it appears randomly, it is best to install and run an antivirus, each game has its own name and if it fails it should tell you something like <game name>.exe stopped working and not "game.exe", that could be a virus.

the main game I'm having difficulty with is "https://spring-rabbit.itch.io/the-house"

every time I play it I get a notification at some point in the game saying:

"The House.exe is not responding."

I download the games from the website.

It doesn't happen with every game I play but it has happened on about 3 of the 20 I have played so far.

Maybe your graphics drivers are outdated.

But the app not responding actually means, it is in a non responsive loop or similar. Not that your pc is too slow. If that were so, it would stutter and be sluggish. Not stop responding. It usually means, that windows thinks the app should react to input while it does not.
