Hello!

We are two indie sound designers crafting soundpacks for indie game devs. Therefore, we need some feedbacks to clearly understand what are your needs. Thanks a lot  in advance for your answers!

- Do you have a hard time finding the right sounds for your games? If yes, what kind of problems do you encounter?

- Is there any kind of sounds you need most and can't find and/or need different types of (i.e: weapons? explosions? UI's? etc.) ?

- What would make you buy a soundpack? What would make you not buy a soundpack?

- Any suggestions?

Thanks again!

What would make you buy a soundpack? What would make you not buy a soundpack?

I'd buy soundpack if it has most of sounds that I need. If the soundpack sounds too generic, I might not buy it.

I have hard time finding sounds for unrealistic cases. Ex: monster shooting, enemy tossing grenades and monster spawn. Usually grenade toss doesn't produce sound if it were thrown by hand but I need to give sound to notify player that a grenade is being tossed.

I'm not sure what parameters I should insert in search box to find those sounds.

Not unless the sounds are ultra-specific; there are tons of free sounds on opengameart.org, freesound.org and other websites. The only real time I can't find sounds is when I don't know how to describe it.

Is there any kind of sounds you need most and can't find and/or need different types of (i.e: weapons? explosions? UI's? etc.) ?

There could be some more stab / slash / impact sounds. Footstep sounds are also quite annoying to find.

What would make you buy a soundpack? What would make you not buy a soundpack?

I would probably not buy a soundpack because there are lots of free sounds available. I also have an aversion to sound packs with many sounds when I am looking for specific sounds.

Thanks a lot for your answers, it's very appreciated! After reading them, we understand that specific sounds is harder to find which makes us think: Would you prefer, for example, ordering specific sounds that can't be found nowhere else instead of buying a generic pack? Also, how much would you be ready to pay for a specific and unique sound for your games?

@DarkBloodbane: We're not quite sure what parameters you should insert but we thought it might be like a woosh sound or something...

Thanks again a lot for your answers! If you wish, you can choose one of our soundpack https://honeyphonic.itch.io/ and write to us: honeyphonic@protonmail.com and we'll send it to you for free!

@Joyless: We suggest to ask us for the zombie soundpack; there are many footsteps sounds included!

Have a good one!

As someone who has bought a lot of sound packs and music from Itch, the quality here has scared me away from any sound packs on the site. Everything seems to be from SFXR, BFXR, or from real names, just with reverb.
