Hi, hello, admins/site owners! I hope this is the place to post this. About a few weeks ago, I joined a game jam to 'bookmark' it so that I could keep it in view. Then, about a few days ago, I submitted a visual novel of my own.
I discovered a bit later that it had been automatically submitted to the game jam I had joined earlier. I hadn't checked my tabs and only noticed it when I saw a newly added submission to the game jam page itself. There was no indicator that my work had been submitted, and I didn't see anything I could have selected in my settings pages to have it submitted immediately. Fortunately, it was only auto-submitted to the latest jam I joined, and not the other ongoing jam I had joined long ago - there wasn't much need for damage control.
This isn't a problem for me since I'd caught it earlier, but I joined the game jam's host Discord server and read a few posts that the hosts have been seeing unrelated submissions to the jam they were hosting and were sometimes swamped by them.
I imagine this might be sometimes caused by automatic submissions that developers who are newer to the platform or haven't submitted games before might not know of.
Would it be a good idea to have an option to opt in or out from auto game jam submissions for a particular game? If not, it's fine too! I just thought I'd share in case. Thank you for the site, it's been super fun so far! Cheers!
