Here is a gentle reminder that the internet is a wild and unpredictable place. Earlier this year GameJolt suddenly removed all adult games without notice and poof, they’re gone. Who is to say the same thing can’t happen to Itch.io? If you treasure the games that you play, you should always download and save them with you, this applies to all games and not just NSFW ones. Game Developers who use online source controls should also consider backing their shit to physical drives because who knows what will be in store for us in the future. The world has turned upside down since 2020 started and we should rather be safe than sorry.

With the amount of extreme content this site is hosting under the Adult and NSFW tags, I wouldn't be surprised, even if the whole website would be taken down anytime by now. lol

Keeping offline physical data backups is a good idea indeed.

oh look, more evidence that itch.io has been plenty aware of this possibility for years and never did a single thing about it
I can't believe I was ever stupid enough to believe them when they pretended to care about indie developers.

I came here because gamejolt did that.. now on lewdcorner, f95-which is as bad as itch.

While some of the games that were removed were pretty messed up and I don't condone rape culture or violence against others like that, fuck itch.io and steam for cowing down like a bunch of fucking bitches to what amounts to a terrorist organization going around blackmailing corporations into doing what they want.

Making backups of all your stuff on local hardware made sense 3 years ago and is now vital for everyone and every type of data.
