Version Number for Game Assets

Two weeks ago I uploaded my first asset pack and since then I have updated it twice. The guide said "Uploading a file with the exact same name will: [...] Keep the stats (download count)" , which seemed like the best option to me until one person left the following comment:

"Other asset creators put the version number in the zip filename, like for example: Farm_Full_v1.01.zip [...] If the filename was 1.01 and you released 1.02 I would know I needed to upgrade."

Is there a way to keep my stats and change the zip file or do other creators not care as much about how the stats are displayed?

The latter. Deleting uploads and adding others preserves the project's overall download counts, but not those of the individual files. Do it however you like, people will criticize you either way.

Thank you!

I keep the same file names but, in the description, I just add:  Updated May 2021:  This changed...

That said, I don't really care about the stats,  in themselves they aren't meaningful.
