I have been having problems getting itch to run. I don't have any virus scanners installed and it installs without any visible errors but itch won't open. I'm running Debian 10.8.

Have you tried opening it from your terminal so you can see what the logs say?

It refuses to launch though

Are you sure that the app is not open but the window is positioned off screen? Does your console immediately return to the prompt? I don’t see anything in the log you shared that suggests it crashed.

I, too, am having problems getting the Itch.io app to open. I've installed both whatever version installs on the default button, and the version specifically installed on the Linux button. I'm running the latest version of Ubuntu. I've spent hours trying to play Itch.io downloaded games, to no success.

My Itch executable when booted just shows up as an unresponsive empty dark grey frame. Nothing strange when opened from the terminal either. I'm using PopOS with X11 & KDE. As for hardware I am using the proprietary Nvidia drivers for a GTX 750 Ti, an Intel i5-4460 & 16GB of RAM.

Are you really that bothered that a few of my most recent posts bumped some old threads? Just what is your insinuation here anyways? That I am somehow enjoying posting to old threads? They are the newest ones relevant to my problem.
Fighter's Day I suggest you find something better to do with your time than policing the age of posts strangers respond to.

Had the same problem with KDE. It would display a grey window and close afterwards. I resolved it by doing "itch-setup --uninstall" in the terminal and then I installed it again.

Thank you Neek. I should have reported here that I found that and got it working at some point, however now my own Godot programs don't seem to launch through the application despite installing native Linux binaries. One step forward at least.

Have same issue - installer woeks fine, but both gtk and qt versions just show gray screen for a brief moment and close. Uninstalling and reinstalling does not help. Nothing meaningful in the console:

Temporary work around is launch ./itch --no-sandbox
