Not only games what about other apps on itch.io

Hi,

I was going to put my app on itch.io (it is not game it is simple ToDo/Reminder application). But after checking the categories it seems that there is no such place where some tools could by placed.
1. Did I miss something and there is a way to upload also apps? If yes what is the category for this.

2. Is itch.io only for game developers by purpose or you are going to allow app upload also?

You select the category after upload, so you can certainly upload an app. I have some apps (a food app, a kisekae player) where I just left the category as Other, since I couldn't see anything else suitable. I agree it would be nice to have a wider variety of non-game categories.

Do you have many downloads of your app? I'm afraid that Others category may not be associated with "Apps" but rather some "strange games"

I have few downloads of the app, but I have few downloads overall, and also I don't think a lot of people download Android apps here. But maybe adding good tags will compensate for the category.

Thanks for info.

Did you notice the drop-down that allows you to pick what kind of project to look for? Tools for example. When creating a new project, it's under Classification, the fourth field on the form.

Thanks. Indeed I saw Tools category but my first association was that it was "Tools for Game or Game Development".

That is also how I interpreted Tools, and looking at what's there, it does seem to be mostly tools for content creation.

That's what most people post, but it doesn't have to be.
