Struggling figuring out what a character is

I was bored, I drew a character I wanted to make a small game on, but the more I look at it the more familiar it looks, and I can figure it out where I've already seen this creature and it's driving me mad

Several two legged, slightly artificial looking things have chicken legs: The AT-ST (All Terrain Scout Transport) from Star Wars, ED-209 (Enforcement Droid Series 209) from RoboCop, velociraptors, flamingos… ;)

If it helps, I’ve seen quite a lot of games in my time (too many, really) and this doesn’t look like anything specific to me. I’ve also looked at some thing that the ear pieces reminded me of: The “Cybermen” EarPods from Doctor Who, the robot’s earpieces from Metropolis (1927), the helmet from Rocketeer… Nothing was a close enough match - although I thought “Hey, I’ve seen this before”.

Our brain tries to find similarities and likenesses. :) Becomes a smiling face. :( becomes a sad face. There might be something similar going on in this case as well. On top of that impostor syndrome is a thing that can happen.

It’s possible that you copied some other work without noticing it, like George Harrison once did. But it’s also possible that you just created a piece of original work.

I hope any of this helps you - or at least confuses you in an entertaining fashion. ;) Have a nice day.

Ok thanks, I found out that I might have been also inspired by the style of the creatures in the eternal cylinder game

But to optimize the chances of it working, I would recommend cleaning up the image as much as possible before uploading it.

A character is a group homomorphism $G \rightarrow k^*$, where $k$ is a field, usually $k = \mathbb{C}$. Characters form an abelian group under pointwise multiplication.
