Hi everyone!
I'm a game designer and part-timeguitar player, I teach guitar to beginners. I'm excited to share my rhythm teaching game:
Da di di di
In this game, you play as a guitar hero on a musical journey through the forest, defeating enemies and reaching your goal by tapping rhythm cards correctly. Every movement is driven by rhythm — the better your timing, the better your progress.
Why I made this
As a music teacher, I noticed that many beginners struggle with rhythm. It's hard to explain using just words, and most tutorial videos are boring. So I decided to create a **rhythm-based game** where players can **learn rhythm through interactive gameplay**.
Gameplay Features
- Practice essential rhythm patterns: quarter notes, eighth notes, sixteenth notes, dotted rhythms, syncopations, and more
- Beat-synced movement: move by performing rhythm cards on time
- Obstacles like spike traps and reversed controls add challenge
- In-game tutorial page where players can listen to rhythms and adjust BPM
- A pause menu with a built-in rhythm practice area
Level Design
The game starts with basic rhythms like quarter and eighth notes. As you progress, you'll encounter more complex patterns like dotted rhythms, triplets, and syncopation.
Each level features randomized rhythm sequences from a preset pool, helping players **distinguish and memorize rhythm types** in a fun way.
Future Plans
- Add rhythm tolerance adjustment for difficulty
- Introduce new maps with different visual themes
- More enemies with unique behaviors
- New card types (e.g. skip beat, silence)
- Playable characters like bassist, drummer, saxophonist
- Rhythm-altering items like temporary BPM shifts
Play the game here:
I’d love to hear your thoughts! Does the rhythm feel good? What would make it more fun or helpful?
Thanks for checking it out!
