I'm glad you enjoyed it.

The boss needs more iteration to get the timing and difficulty right.  It's a lot easier to defeat the boss with projectile attacks compared to melee attacks.  Maybe that's what you are missing?  I wanted to add a room that required the player to shoot projectiles and destroy targets before a door would unlock (so the player knows about the X button) but didn't have the time to code it.

I leaned towards a slightly more difficult boss over a very easy boss. I guess I got too used to the boss when deciding it had 6 health points.

Sounds like a great idea.  I'd love to watch a playthrough of my game.

I had 2 reports of a softlock in my game on 5th room of the second level.  I made a quick patch that changed 5 solid and 2 decorative tiles to prevent the softlock and uploaded it as version 1.01 on itch and GitHub (less than 3 hours after the jam ended).

I kept the old version on the game page as I wasn't sure of the rules regarding after jam patches.

I now realize the two filenames in the submission page might be unclear and have renamed them to reflect their before and after jam ended status.

If you have reviewed the patched v1.1 version, please let me know and I can privately show you the changes I made to the room.

Those last 2 days were a crunch.

I was not able to get everything I wanted done.  There's no particles, flying enemies or a parallax background.  I spent my time making sure the levels and enemies felt right instead. Overall, I'm happy with what I published and enjoyed the jam.  Looking forward to playing the submitted games over the week.

I want to personally thank KungFuFurby for creating the excellent soundtrack for my game and relieving a major source of stress off my shoulders.

I am going to continue working on my game.   The Space Rescue Squad in my head is a little over 4 times bigger with more environments, enemies and levels.  There's no time frame yet, I'm juggling a lot of snesdev projects at the moment (some I haven't worked on in months).

I've finally finished a playtest build of my game.

You are a member of a rescue squad sent out to rescue the crew of a badly damaged Guild of Mad Scientists science station.

I'm not going to be able to get everything I wanted done by the jam's end.  I will hopefully have enough time to release a stripped down demo for the jam and will continue developing the game over the rest of the year.

Is cartridge save RAM allowed?  The wording in the rules is unclear.

I'm still deciding on what style of game I want to make. My best ideas so far are a platformer collectathon or a short metroidvania.  I'd like to add a save feature to the game and limiting myself to password saves will significantly reduce the number of global flags/collectables I can add to the game.
