I'll make him bigger in the next update

Hello!!
Thank you for this again, there are a lot of really useful things in here. I'm actually wrapping up Seek right now, so the update should be ready in the next few days. After that I'm probably going to spend a week or two going through this doc and fixing as many of the bugs/issues as I can before I consider the remake finished.
I also might look into an Android build during that time, but after that I'm pretty much done with the remake. The main purpose of the remake for me was to learn UE5, get better at making a full game, and build up some experience before working on my own game, and I think I've accomplished that at this point.
So after the final bug fixing and possibly the Android port, I'm moving on to Incident: 43
Also, don't worry about some of the Rush stuff you found. Rush being able to spawn in rooms without closets is a pretty big system issue and fixing it properly would require a lot of recoding, so I'm actually planning to recode the entire Rush spawning system 😭😭😭 rather than trying to keep patching the current one.
Some bugs you mentioned like the inconsistent elevation would take to long to fix and for a project I'm trying to move on for and something that doesn't really affect gameplay at all I probably won't be fixing stuff like that.
I'll definitely try to fix as much as I can from the doc during that final bug-fixing period though. Thanks again for testing it! And the tester form I'll try to remember what 1+1 is💀
p.s what did the stair room do?!?! Also I'll add the fnaf ambience in the seek update.
Also for some reason figure shouldn't be able to navigate by the ladders yet still does. so I will fix that.

EDIT: I currently fixed both bugs,
figure gets stuck on ladders - I just removed collision on ladders for figure
Figure breaks upon hearing a sound - There was a glitch were figure was trying to pull a varible that was originally going to be where he should check near a sound but i changed the name so he would break bc that varible didnt exsist. It will be fixed if you redownload it when 1.6 launches.
Yes it won't be receiving any more updates once it gets to 1.6.1 becuse I really want to work on my own original steam release. There's a chance I will upload the source code for if somone wants to continue it themselves and maybe if the game gets really popular I'll do a outdoors or archives or backdoor overhaul. But after 1.6 the game basically has all the content from the hotel in doors so my goal has been reached sorry if you were expecting the mines or more but I will post regular updates about the new game as I work on it
I actually haven't even tested the full Rooms yet 😬, so lmk if it's possible.
I am warning you, there was a bug I found yesterday where if you left the Rooms, your items would disappear. I patched it, and the update will come out today actually (yep, already!) which will patch that, give the Starlight Bottle functionality, and add the Crucifix working and Halt. Also, how was Door 100?
Not guaranteed, but you can fill out this form so I have you on the list when I start selecting testers.

Also testing won't be avalible for a really long time becuse, I haven't even started the game yet. But I will as soon as the doors remake hits 1.6.
For the update, if you want to skip to Room 100, press / on your keyboard and type GoToRoom 99. It's case-sensitive, so enter it exactly like that. This will also disable achievements for that run.
Let me know what you think about the update!
Okay, 1.4 is out if you want to test it :)
I'll be honest, I'm starting to shift more of my attention toward Incident: 43, so I'm rushing a little more to finish up the remake lol. But I still think the game is in a pretty good spot.
You can use this command to jump to room 99 by pressing / on your keyboard and typing GoToRoom 99. It's case-sensitive, so type it exactly like that. (Will disable achivments for that run.)
If you do want to be a tester for Incident: 43, here's a tester application:

Note: The game won't be ready to test for over a year, but this way I can reach you when it's ready.
Thanks for the suggestions! This project was mainly a learning experience for me while I was learning Unreal Engine, so once the base Hotel is finished, I'll be moving on to my own original game instead of continuing to add all the other DOORS content.
It's called Incident: 43, and it's a sci-fi horror roguelite where you explore abandoned government facilities, deal with different anomalies, and try to uncover what happened. It's going to be a much more polished and original game, and I'm planning to release it on Steam.
If you're interested in following it or possibly testing it when I have builds ready, you can email me at tbge.studios@gmail.com
1. Yes I'll look into that
2. Yes I know about the closet issue and it will take a long time to fix but dw I will get to it just not in 1.4 maybe in like 1.5 or 1.6.
3. Yes I'll fix that for 1.4
4. Fine so much people told me to make the charecter faster and I've tested a lot to make the game just as long as a real doors game but I'll increase it by a tiny bit like 2% from like 340 to 355.
5. Yes I actully do have that font in the games files but thanks! It's currently used in the pause menu. I would like to use it for more but the O's being doors kind of bothers me but I can try to add it to more menus.
Thanks for playing the new update and can't wait to share 1.4 with you when it comes out. I'll probably post a devlog of screenshots soon becuse I am making tons of progress and yes the rift is in it.
Hi again! Yeah, those new issues you added are completely valid lol.
The reason you didn't get the Detour achievement is because I was kind of dumb and was too lazy to properly code a system for getting multiple achievements at once. For example, Roomy and Detour can unlock at basically the same time, and the achievement system doesn't handle that properly yet. So when it gave you Roomy, you probably clicked continue before the timer for the other achievement finished. I'll definitely fix that.
I'll keep the other issues you've added in mind too. The locker sprite, A-60/A-90/A-120 behavior, being able to use items inside lockers, stairs, the Basement, Greenhouse reaction time, etc. are all things I'll look into.
For the Figure code, I'll check that too. If you're talking about the code input in the Library, I'll make sure that's actually working properly.
Also, the Rooms entrance is supposed to require entering it from a specific direction, but I'll make that more obvious because if you can just completely miss how to enter it, that's probably not great lol.
I'm currently working on Room 100. That's planned to come out in about a week or two, give or take.
I'm glad you're still having fun with it and checking out more of the game. And seriously, thanks again for continuing to update the document. If you find more bugs while playing Greenhouse, Rooms, or Room 100 once it's out, feel free to keep sending them my way!
Also, since you mentioned being interested in the mystery game, I can give you a tiny sneak peek lol. It's currently called Incident: 43, and it's going to be my first original commercial game. It's a sci-fi horror roguelite heavily inspired by DOORS, which is honestly my favorite game, but I'm trying to take the things I love about DOORS and build them into something much more original. I'm hoping to start working on it more seriously after I finish this remake.
Thank you so much for this!! Seriously, I really appreciate you taking the time to actually play through the game multiple times and write all of this down. This is probably one of the most detailed pieces of feedback I've gotten for the remake lol
A lot of these are things I already knew were a bit rough, but there were also some things I hadn't noticed at all, so this is really helpful.
Just to clear up a couple things:
- You can press 0 to unequip your current item, so you don't have to scroll all the way through your inventory.
- If you press / on your keyboard, it'll open the dev menu. You can use
GiveItem Keyif you get softlocked somewhere because of a missing key, orGoToRoom 20/GoToRoom 39to get around certain softlocks where giving yourself a key wouldn't help. (The Dev Menu is caps sensitive with EVERY word needing caps so be careful.) - The smiley you saw in the lobby is actually intentional. It's a little reference to Sally's old window version from DOORS.
I am going to fix a few things from this in 1.4, including the pause menu not actually pausing everything and the item shadow issue.
I should mention though that I'm probably not going to take the remake all the way to the level of polish you're suggesting for every single thing here. I'm mainly finishing up the Hotel and then I'm moving on from the remake, so some of the room variety/model/animation stuff probably won't get a full overhaul. I still really appreciate you pointing them out though, especially since it gives me a much better idea of what I should pay attention to in my future projects.
I've actually been using this remake to teach myself Unreal Engine before I start working on my first original commercial game, so a lot of the jank in this project is basically me learning UE5 in public lmao.
And honestly, if you're interested, I'd absolutely love to have you as a tester for my original game once I get to that point. Someone who is willing to actually play through the game and write down this much specific feedback is exactly the kind of tester I'd want.
I'm also really glad you had fun with the game! And just as a heads up, the next update, 1.4, is going to be Door 100, so that's what I'm working on next.
Thanks again for testing it and writing all of this. The effort you put into this is genuinely appreciated :)
P.S If you'd be interested in testing my original game when I get to that point, feel free to email me at tbge.studios@gmail.com!
