This game is actually really sick
I'm so glad I clicked on it since the movement was fun, I was actually motivated to get to the end to see what will happen in the dialogue in each day.
The day and night cycle was such a good idea, It really created good pacing for the player to not feel burnt out from doing too much platforming.
really cute game, I loved the art in this, pixel art dogs cannot be easy!
the gameplay was also very good, I initially thought that the inability to swivel you sprite around to aim the jump was an oversight. However, I was wrong, it is then used as a core part of all the puzzles. I really appreciated this creativity with a very small move set. Good game!
An issue I faced was the realisation that the sprint button (aside from a couple levels) just wasn't as good as normal movement, I found it less stable since you can literally count the number of squares you've moved by the number of times you pressed a direction with normal movement, whereas with sprint it's much easier to fly off the edge. So far this isn't an issue, in fact I'd call it really interesting having the player decide when to and when not to sprint. However, I discovered that you can just mash a movement key using the normal walking speed and it matches the sprint speed. It wasn't comfortable, but it was optimal and maybe that's a problem with just me, so don't worry too much about this paragraph of a nit pick.
Don't get me wrong, I really loved this game, I just thought that feedback would be helpful!
really cool! This game was actually really addictive. I sat here for ages just basking in the pickup sound lol. Seriously though, I will bookmark this game and play it instead of doing coursework at school. There's something so satisfying in thinking about which upgrades would be best and whether or not I've neglected some other upgrades and should bump them up. Then you load back in and you get a really cute animation of a new rocket firing up, once in space you get to see the increase in area that you can travel to (that is really satisfying).
I just read the description, this was made by one person? How was there time for all the assets on top everything else?
I don't know if I just didn't get far enough, but I think the game could use some greater hazards, I didn't feel any urgency whilst playing.
This game felt really good to play. I really enjoyed the player movement, it's responsiveness and the relief of getting to the extraction zone with your loot. This satisfaction was cleverly increased with the addition of objects weighing you down. It made it feel more real to me, like I was truly sneaking out of a facility with so much goods it's too heavy to carry. Once you get to the extraction you can then start sprinting at usual speed and feel a rush of relief.
I think the game could be harder, with enemies that aren't easily lost or looped. I also (personally) found the lasers a bit slow in allowing me in or out of an area, I see the vision of them making you commit to entering a room and they add to the stealthy feel of the whole game. However, I feel like a similar feeling can be captured by using more complicated instances of those laser maze things (can't think of a better way of describing them).
All in all, really good game!
