Alright. I'll do another round of testing everything I can think of in a bit and then if I still can't seem to proc the abilities I'll go and drop the save file in a bug thread. Maybe the mod folder being empty will also change a thing somehow.
It's mostly for flavour that I want to try those classes. Melee Spellcaster has always been my favourite archetype.
Cheers!

Nah, no mods.
I think there's some in the mods folder but I don't really remember them and none are loaded.
If we're talking the Spellsword's spell effect, yes? I've toggled selecting spell on and off and made both physical skill and basic melee attacks.
But if we're talking following up a single target spell with a basic melee attack, I haven't seen something to activate.
Does the back/front row position matter for melee more than I'm aware? Since the Spellsword's range is always melee now it might be it messed with something in a way I didn't consider.
For the Arcane Blade buff lingering through Oblivion I haven't tried yet, but I'm sure retoggling the element in the next battle MC is in should override/undo it. Those things seem to persist outside combat, so it's probably just that the game didn't account for losing the ability while it's active.
How do people usually share the save file? Thing was too big to fit a free pastebin. Do folks just paste it as a post here?
PS : As a side note, sometimes trying to open the console and untick Hide Errors to take a look kinda freezes the game. Is the stuff that would be written to console pushed to a log file that'd be easier to look at/share?
Are you trying to play with the loan (hard difficulty) specifically?
Because if not, just focus on the story. You shouldn't have to pay the loan more than the first two times, unless you're taking your time with story. Focus on the "hustle" for a bit, especially reputation with the guilds through jobs, and the loan will become a non issue.
Spoiler : something will freeze the loan payments until resolved.
Now if you know this already and are playing with the extra difficulty or option for the loan to continue, that's like, optional challenge so it shouldn''t need to change.
Make sure Fast Loan Payment is checked, too.
I think there used to be a Sterile trait you could, for example, give the MC.
I don't remember seeing it anymore but there IS contraceptive, which like many other things has moved to the Rules tab on the character roster list.

Used to need a level of obedeance to make servants take contraceptives IIRC but you can just toggle it now. Just gotta know where it is.
I've made the MC pivot from pure mage into Spellsword, however the extra attacks don't seem to be happening at all.
I've tried with a staff, with a sword (crafted to have magic attack on it), I've tried on the front row and the back line. Targetted enemies on the front and back, just in case.
I have never seen a single target spell be followed by a Basic Attack ever, even though the description says it should happen 100% of the time. The combat log also doesn't show any attack or damage being done additionally after the spell.
The same way, the active effect of casting a spell after a Single Target Physical Attack is also something I have never actually seen happen.
Does it simply not work or am I misunderstanding something about the mechanics?
PS: Also, a bug, seemingly? I had Arcane Blade when I decided to Oblivion the MC and redo the classes a bit differently. It seems the Water Enchant I had active at the time lingered, turning all my physical attacks into Water. And also doing next to no damage. The damage seemingly dropping off a cliff is why I wanted to redo classes, I'll try and do testing with that when I get the class back because it seemed some interactions might've been tripping themselves into neutering the character.
Gotcha.
Also to be clear, when I said abandonned I meant a regular update schedule. It seems like you opted for bigger and rarer rather than smaller and more often, which itself isn't bad.
It was just a bit jarring to see nothing for so long on Patreon, hence why I was asking them about Discord. But hey, here's the sign of life.
Cheers, I look forward to more Jimmy shenanigans (he was such a bro)!
The new save system seems to take an increased ammount of time that scales depending on how long ago the game last saved.
I'll try checking if it seems impacted by action density or just amount of turn.
It's a tad inconvenient but it was mostly worrying the first few times where the game looked unresponsive all of a sudden.
Is Discord really the only place where signs of life are given?
Not to be a hater because this one was top shelf back in the day, and probably will be whenever it moves again. Also Jimmy the goat.
But I decided to check the Patreon because that's usually what I do since itch.io can be ignored by some devs until update day, but Patreon being an income flow they generally at least give signs of life there.
Despite apparently bringing in 3k monthly, which is a real job's salaray btw (if a team isn't involved), the last patreon post was 2024??
You're telling me that there are signs of life in Discord, though? Roughly a year and a half without sign of life on the paid platform is crazy. Have they just fully abandonned the update cycle and are planning to just release the game once complete or something?
Picked it up this week, it is quite entertaining so far. I like the idea of character losses. Stories are afraid of that, so the bitterness is welcome in a way.
That being said, 2 things.
1) After Zinnia's first fight there was a wee misleading sequence making it sound like the game's main story was over, 'but here's a preview of what's to come' and I thought "ah well, probably some side events left to do I'll check them later". And I later decided to check, I find the main story continues on. So uh, I dunno. leftover from earlier version? It's a bit odd that it is still there, telling "that's it for now!" when it's apparently no longer the case.
2) You've mentionned reducing grinding but here's my current situation. I am level 16 without any quests available but the main quest is asking for level 21. If I understand correctly a level is something like 100 XP, and assuming it stays at 100 every time, without quests and 4 work shifts a day that's 30 game days of *nothing* new happening whatsoever. I understand your longer term goal is to have more side activities that will hopefully also give XP, but in the meantime this is a bit tedious.
Am I missing something? Should the mastered shifts give more than 4xp?
Either way cheers, man.
Awesome, this dropped just as I was redoing a playthrough to trigger all I'd missed previously, right when I got to this new content showing up. Perfect timing.
All the new stuff is good and the outposts look like they'll help drain money (which previously started becoming a major non-issue by winter) so that's good.
I haven't managed to re-trigger the Ellie & Lucy scene yet with the latest build, but maybe I'm just missing some events in the sequence.
Added in post : I've had the event where Aillis talks about the workers to build outposts during the weekends but I still don't have the option to build the missing ones or upgrade existing ones while the merchants are there. Am I missing something? (I have enough gold to do either, too)
My only gripe has been with the Wizard Tower quest and the RNG galore that led to me fighting the same monster for over 3 weeks straight, at one point it took 8 nights in a row to get a single claw. It's just bad RNG luck but it managed to irritate a bit. Fighting the miniboss 5 times already sounded reasonable for a quest, upwards of 15 was uh... it didn't feel right.
Eventually, as more and more quests and POIs get added alongside, the drop odds of things like these could go up a little, just so you're not getting too screwed by unlucky RNG when there's many things to do. Currently it's not that big a deal though.
Keep up the fantastic work!
Good stuff once again!
After playing around I have 2 questions. First, there used to be a scene that could trigger when temperature was getting low where Lucy would take the iniciative to show up at night to warm up. Even while keeping the inn at temp 40 for a few weeks it never seemed to happen. Is it just very unlikely or perhaps changed to be something for Winter season?
Secondly, when will we be able to kiss Lucy during the lovemaking scene? She deserves it!
Cheers! Exciting stuff ahead.
I'll pay close attention, it's true I keep the roads under control now that it's easily manageable. I might try to purposely keep them at Dangerous for a couple of weeks. If the merchants are unnafected it sounds like it could be bug/unintended.
Edit : Alright, merchants do go back to missing and having higher prices when you start the weekend at Dangerous.
Fell in love with the art style and the inn management loop. The setting has neat and creative ideas. The progression of the character and the inn feel at a good pace. Overall very cozzy and charming. I'd play it even without the lewd scenes.
Definitely at the mercy of some bad weeks RNG, which early game can be a problem but starting over with a better picture of what to prioritize first and where to focus made things go much more smoothly.
I'm looking forward to the characters' relationship to continue evolving and future seasonal events, and perhaps more recurring characters. It was all very good so far.
In the meantime, bits of feedback/thoughts :
- Like it's already been mentionned, settings could be nice, namely to adjust sound volumes.
- It might be planned for the future but I expected something to happen or for scenes to look different at 100 Fracture. Something like how in the begining, we see Lucy's 'Other' self holding her up. Expected to see "her" more at 100 Fracture. I'm sure it's planned for future story developments, but I'll still mention it.
- If it's intended to work like that, that is fine, but I was a bit surprised that the availability of Merchants and their Safe prices were a one-and-done thing. What I mean is that I absolutely don't mind if once you bring the Monster Presence down to Safe, the game becomes lenient, but it would feel expected that the roads going all the way back to Dangerous would have an effect. It didn't seem to be the case other than reducing potential guests for the inn. I think once unlocked, it could be fine for things to stay unlocked for Safe and Low, perhaps go back to expensive prices at Medium and High but still have all Merchants, but hitting Dangerous again, it would feel appropriate Merchants aren't showing up with their cheapest prices. The gameplay loop is fun enough I wouldn't mind recurring problems like that. I think.
- Couldn't find a way to see the state of the Kegs if there was one. So either include where to find that in the help/guide page or perhaps add it somewhere if possible. Just having an idea during the week of how many are still fermenting.
- No kissing during the interactive scene :<
I really enjoyed my time with this game so enjoy this little support as I eagerly wait for more :)
Also, potentially spoilers question : is there currently any scene triggered by keeping Lucy's desire maxed without doing anything about ita number of days in a row, or have I just been really mean to her for several days?
The transparency and follow ups are always appreciated.
Without asking for too much details, what kind of issues did the testing rounds face with the Godot version? Was it performance and stuttering related, was it bugging out? Just curious.
Also it was well prepared of you guys to keep a Renpy version ready just in case, good call. Hopefully you can make the final switch next time!
Cheers! The hair color rarely if ever comes up so it's really not a problem.
My lazy solution would be to just call it Red and let people project whichever kind of red onto it. Unless you sometimes have descriptives tied to the colors, in which case it would get annoying for you.
I was honestly more curious to know if there was going to be a region full of gingers somewhere down the line or something! Or it be a special family's trait.
Is there a lore reason why the Warden can't have red/ginger hair? Like if it is particular to a certain region or people that aren't in Lenia or something like that?
I was making my second read-through character more like myself until I reached that point and went "Oh. It's not there."
It's not a huge deal but I'm curious. Burgundy Red just isn't the same.
Very enjoyable and engaging read, by the way.
I would also much prefer an in-game option similar to the first game. I was honestly expecting the Beauty Parlour to handle that but apparently no. Bit of an oversight in my opinion.
In the mean time, for others who may want to change this, we can get around it with some save editing.
https://strive-conquest.fandom.com/wiki/Save_Editing
Once you got the file in a readable manner, search for the character's name or nickname.
You should find a section that looks like this :
Just specifying because it can also find it in relationship listings which isn't the one you want.
From there, scroll up a bit until you find the lines
"hair_style": "pigtails",
"hair_length": "hips",
Obviously it won't necessarily say those values.
I've tinkered a bit but I believe the best approach is to just change the length in the save and then change the style in-game. Doing it in-game will also update the portrait. Doing it in directly in the save does not until you change the style in-game anyways.
The values I know are available are :
ear
neck
shoulder
waist
hips
However, with the game's default visual assets, it seems to only matter when the hair style is straight, and currently I don't think "waist" looks any different than shoulder length.
There's got to be a better way.
