My name is Mike and after over a decade of making games for a hobby, I have decided to make it my career. I will be releasing my first game Wrong Dimension in just a little while. I've had many hobbies, but game creation is the only one I have gone back to time and time again. I plan to only ever make games that offer something new to my players. Such as Wrong Dimension, a platformer, with the camera facing down from the top!

I have a ton of great ideas that I know will be fun. Unfortunately many of them are so large they will need a nice sized team. So I am hoping to grow with smaller releases until I can get to that point.

The game is now in Beta. With 9 levels currently, and a much wider variety of level types than the alpha. Enjoy!

Wrong Dimension was created initially as a run-n-jump game. To try and beat the levels before the timer ran out. That method felt ok for a while. Since we have now passed Steam Greenlight and will be moving onto Steam, we've been wanting to improve the game beyond what it was.

After spending some time thinking, discussing, and deliberating, we have decided to make a number of big changes to the game. All of which I am sure everyone will be quite happy for. Below is a list of what we plan to add or change for the Steam Release.

  • Remove the Timer completely
  • Add at least two new enemies
  • Change focus from timed runner to combat/exploration
  • Divide the game up into 3 themed level types
  • Add Boss battles at the end of each 'campaign'
  • Secret levels??
  • Special one-time-per-level weapons
  • View Distance options

With these changes Wrong Dimension will go from a fun arcade style game to a game with more substance. However, the price will remain at around $2.99 seeing as I always knew that the game needed more to be complete, and now I feel like I have found exactly what that 'more' will be.

I'm very excited to start adding these features and getting the game ready for Steam. Tomorrow, I am going to work on what I would consider the coolest enemy in the game!

I'm glad you enjoyed the article. I'm sorry you hate the logo.

Thank you for your support! The game is designed to give the player a sense of discovery every time they figure out a new portion of this riddle of a game. We hope you enjoy it.

Please feel free to post any issues or problems you run into, as well as any constructive criticism you might have.

Cheers, -Mike

Wrong Dimension - The 'One Dimensional' Platformer

is a game played along a single axis. Fight monsters, unlock doors, explore sky-towers, and dive deep into underground dungeons using familiar platforming concepts presented in brand new ways . All while being hypnotized by an amazing soundtrack by Joe Firth.

Designed intentionally with simplicity, WD challenges players reactions, speed, and performance under pressure while demanding success in one run each level. No checkpoints, no score. Each level is either pass or fail. There is no success in winning half way, then dying. The only way to unlock the next level is to beat the one before.

Controls

  • Vertical Gameplay
  • Monsters specially designed around the axis restraints
  • Requires the balance of reflexes, strategy, and speed
  • Mesmerizing world of neon colors
  • Long Grasslands, Tall Sky-towers, and Deep Dungeons
  • Designed to influence players psychologically (Confusion to accomplishment. Intensity to Powerful. etc.)

I hope that you will give it a look and take a chance and experience a new way to platform your way to victory!
