Thanks for playing! Yeah, I'll admit the game has a lot of issues as it stands (probably the most egregious of which being that I forgot to make the final level take you to the end screen lmao). Most of these were a result of time constraints; towards the end of development we just had to ignore a lot of problems we came across to get the game submitted on time.

Regarding the camera... yeah, I agree it's a little too cramped. I put together the framework without the UI in mind, and by the time that was implemented, we were too far along to make changes like that. For future versions I'll probably either minimize the UI's presence or raise the game's overall resolution. I think this will also improve the levels, since most issues stem from the screen crunch and not necessarily the level design itself.

It's funny you mention the lack of a spindash, because that crossed my mind as well. There were a few times during testing that I found myself missing the feature. We definitely would've implemented something like that if we had more time, and we probably will in future updates once the jam is over. I do think the pure reliance on momentum is sort of fun in its own way, but I get that it's not gonna click with most people.

The time travel's simple once you understand how it works, but I probably didn't do the best job tutorializing it. I tried to design the first level in such a way where the player would naturally "run into" the mechanics as they progressed, but in practice it turned out a bit more automated than I wanted. Definitely another thing I'd like to improve in the future.

I'm glad you liked the art! The game as a whole was a team effort, but the sprite art was all me (yes, I am very tired). It's also assuring to know that it's readable in grayscale. I'm partially colorblind myself so I try to avoid relying on color too much in my game design, so I'm glad that came through. As for the lack of decorations... yeah, I wanted to do a lot more. We just ran out of time. I'm particularly frustrated that I didn't get a chance to make the past and present look properly distinct, so that's gonna be one of the first things I address in the future.

Thank you so much for playing our game, and especially for taking the time to give such detailed and constructive feedback! I hope we can deliver a more polished experience in the future, but in the meantime, I'm glad to see the game resonating with people even in its current state!

Thanks so much! I'll address your critiques in more detail on the itch page, but for now I'll just say that I agree with a lot of them, and that we're hoping to substantially improve the game once the jam is over.

I'd considered the possibility that this was the case, but still failed to make the right call. I apologize for judging so rashly. If I may offer some advice (and feel free to take this with a grain of salt; my opinion is just one of many), I'd recommend using something like Google Translate instead of an LLM. In my experience AI tends to inject its own AI-isms into anything you give it regardless of instructions. Regardless, I'm sorry for assuming the worst, and I appreciate you responding civilly instead of returning my attitude in kind (even if I probably deserved it).

To give some feedback on the game itself, I thought it was pretty solid! I wanted to believe only a human being could make such complex and challenging level design, so it's a relief to know that this is indeed still the case. Great job with your game, and thank you so much for playing mine!

Thanks!!

Thanks so much! And yup we're not shy about the Sonic inspiration lol

Very charming little platformer, I like the 3D backgrounds! I can also tell there was a lot of effort put into the sound design. Great stuff all around!

I absolutely ADORE the pre-rendered style of this, feels very late 90's. Unfortunately I seem to be a little too stupid to understand the mechanics, but from what little I could figure out, this game seems very unique!

This is AMAZING what the heck?! The mechanics, the humor, the art... how the hell was this made in only 10 days?! Phenomenal work from everyone involved!

Gotta be one of my favorite games from this jam I've played so far! I love the artstyle and the ridiculous expression of the protag every time you do a jump. Music was great too. I saw in the description that you were thinking about expanding the game after the jam; I hope you'll go through with that! Would love to see a fully fleshed out version of this.

Very solid arcade-y shooter game. I love the music. As others have said I'm not really seeing the theme relevance, but I suppose aircrafts are sort of loosely connected to the idea of going to the top of something (the sky). In any case though, this was fun, great job!

I'd be less bothered by your use of AI if you were at least honest about it. The itch page says "no generative AI was used", yet the description and all of your replies in the comments REEK of ChatGPT. That alone casts a shadow of doubt as to whether or not you actually did any of the work. If you're capable of making a game then you are capable of writing your own comments. If this really is your game that you made, don't devalue your hard work like this.

No problem! Thanks for being receptive to criticism, not all developers are! If you do decide to go through with that post-jam update, I look forward to trying it out.

Thanks! I'll check your game out soon!

Lol I don't know if it's THAT good, but hey, I'll take it. Thanks for playing!

Thanks for giving our game a chance! I'll check out yours soon!

Thanks! It just barely was, thanks to a few of us pulling an all-nighter the night before the deadline!

I like the art, music, and general idea, but I must admit I'm not huge on the gameplay. While I can absolutely admire simplicity when done well, it feels a little overdone here. It's pretty much impossible to lose unless you're actively trying to. Making the enemies move or something would improve the experience substantially.

Really neat concept! The mechanics pair very nicely with the simple artstyle; everything is nice and legible. A minor critique I have is that a few of the puzzles felt a bit unsatisfying when they forced me to take the intended route even when I found a more efficient one. This could be solved if the level design was just a bit more airtight, but it's understandable given the time constraints of this jam. Regardless, this is a cool and unique little game, great job!
