Thank you for playing and for the feedback! The freezes might be a bit tricky to track down since I’m not seeing them on my end, but I’ll try to reproduce them on my other machines. (I did find and clean up various errors that were logged during gameplay, so maybe fixed? - I also added a warmup load for all particles when you first load in) And I can definitely fix those cookies falling when the game is paused!
Hello everyone,
I’ve just submitted our game in its current state! The core gameplay is fully implemented and playable. Right now, we’re focusing on adding music, improving visuals/gameplay, and general polish.
We did most of the work on Monday and Tuesday—I even drove about 3 hours north to jam in person!

BLACK CAVERN – A Roguelite Adventure of Light and Shadow
https://shortstring.itch.io/black-cavern
Descend into a forgotten cavern where enemies lurk in the shadows. Use torches to navigate, master precise archery, and upgrade your skills to survive. Find the exit door or rope on each level to delve deeper. Between runs, visit the tavern to upgrade abilities and stock up on supplies.
Features:
- Increasing Difficulty – Monsters get stronger based on the floor.
- Limited Visibility – Use torches and light arrows to illuminate your path.
- Tavern Upgrades – Upgrade skills and buy supplies to survive deeper levels.
This is our first demo release and is still quite early in development. Check it out and let us know what you think! We're a two-person team and started development in December.
Thanks! We started with a Kanban board on the first day to plan a 22-story sprint. By Thursday, we had completed 14 of the original tasks, so we spent the last two days focused on QA/testing and polishing things up. We originally had planned for an oxygen system and a few other features that we just didn't have time for.
