How does your game fit the theme?
In this game, "the calm before the storm" is the preparatory phase, where the player must build their defenses before the enemy strikes.
Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
Some of the code was inspired by various tutorials, The music, sound effects and some of the 2D textures are free pre-made assets made by other people.

The gameplay fits the theme and is very fun as it combines block building with FPS, which creates for a unique experience. The visuals look nice and fit the game's atmosphere. The audio is well implemented as the music fits the tone for whatever phase the player is in currently while the sound effects perfectly fit the occurring, making them sound nicer and more impactful. However, the web build specifically has weird stutters when placing blocks.
Still though, this is a solid game 👍

Thanks for the feedback!
Not bad at all, lots of potential
Thanks!
Interesting! Noticed there was stuttering in the web version when placing blocks, but not the downloaded one. Very challenging, couldn't survive even one round, but definitely like the strategy behind the game, unique and nice job on this!
Thanks!
I like this take on the theme, the building phase is a very fun idea, however I also felt like it didn't impact the fighting all that much. The only other things were the stuttering when placing or breaking blocks and some scenarios didn't unlock my mouse cursor so I had to do it manually with escape or the windows key. Other than that good work!
Thanks!
As others pointed out, the building feels a bit useless. My main "complaint" is the lag-spikes when placing or removing blocks, it makes it less fun to build.
I liked having different weapons and the possible aspect of sacrificing your buildings to get ammo and health.
Yup i'll definetly need to work on those aspects thanks for the feedback!
Great game, especially for a first game jam! Fighting was fun. I didnt go too in-depth with the building--I thought the system didn't look too user-friendly. A nice entry overall.
Thanks!
Incredible game for first ever game jam to start off, it was really fun once I understood it at the beginning I didnt really understand the building mechanic but the fighting was really fun nice work!
Thanks!
Really cool concept and very impressive for your first game jam! :D
Thanks!
Solid game! I loved the mechanics, but I experienced a bit of lag when placing blocks. It may just be my setup, but optimizing that could enhance the experience even more. Great job overall!
Thanks!
Tight gam very satisfying, Im not sure if its my PC though but there was a tiny lag spike everytime I placed a block, otherwise pretty well made game
Thanks! The lag issue mostly seems to affect the web version
Aight, would really appreciate it if you could give my game a play sometime
I sure will!
I like what it has similar main core loop as in Stormflow as well- construct the arena and destroy wave of enemies :)
If was fun to play and destroy waves of enemies. Very satisfying,
Yeah that is true! Thanks!
The construction mechanism is impressive; achieving it in just 7 days is no easy feat. That's so cool!
Thanks! Tbh youtube tutorials helped me a lot with that mechanic
Cool building mechanic!
Thanks!
Movement and shooting was satisfying. It was interesting that the enemies were subject to friendly fire, I haven't experienced that in a video game before but I think it helped with the base-building aspect. I also felt usually that it was more useful to spend on ammo instead of building. I wonder if there are ways to make the building more important.
Thanks for the feedback! Definetly gonna try make the base building more important
Hee-ho. Very nice game. Cool music and idea
Thanks!
Liked the game design concept!
Thanks!
Very fun game with a really nice feel to it. You were able to do quite a lot in such a short time, the game is quite polished.
Thanks! I did spend most of my time last week making it, except when i was sleeping xD
A really cool idea! A lot of promise :D
Thanks!
Woah, block building in a shooter?!?!? This is a really cool concept! I like how the visual style all fits, and the mechanics feel well balanced, but I should mention as well that the difficulty was rather high, and when I de-focused the game window once the mouse would never re-lock into the window, making it hard to aim unfortunately! Nice work with this one though, keep it up!
Thanks!
i liked how it felt like a cross between doom and minecraft. although i think the block building system could be expanding on, because i didnt feel like i got much value from building defenses. i spent all of my time in the shop menu, so i think that the timer shouldnt be paused when youre in that. i really enjoyed the game though!
Cross between doom and minecraft is literally what i had written in the GDD xD Good point on the building system, it definetly needs improvement
