Hi, I’m currently prototyping an early scene for my first-person folk horror game set in Edo-period Japan.
This is a night-time shrine area that serves as a quiet starting location rather than a combat space. The goal here is to establish mood: isolation, ritual, and a sense that the place is watching you.

Right now I’m focusing on:
- Lighting and contrast for night scenes
- Scale and framing from a first-person perspective
- Making the shrine feel sacred, not hostile (yet)
The character model is still temporary, and animations are very rough. Next, I want to:
- Improve environmental storytelling
- Add subtle ambient audio and wind movement
- Start testing ghost visibility mechanics
Still very early, but I wanted to start sharing progress and get feedback. Thanks for looking.
