lol pretty funny- charming swing animation. kinda wonky solutions but it was fun to find the exact place to put the bow- and swinging was a lot of fun, gaining momentum then launching yourself up!

ABOUT ME: Hello! I'm have basic skills at Unity and Art/Sound design. My strongest skill is game design and as a producer (i.e being able to complete a project by a set deadline). I have successfully participated in a few game jams in the past which you can check out of my page : https://sharkchemist.itch.io/

VISION: For this Jam I want to make an easy-to-play but hard to master strategy game inspired by Euro board games, deckbuilding roguelikes and Zachtronics games. The game will be matched or 'run' based and have ton's of replay value as the player learns more about the system.

LOOKING FOR: A more experienced programmer in Unity or another engine or another game designer who is passionate about system-based strategy games. Once thse positions are filled, I would also be looking for an experienced artist and sound designer.

Hi Klaha. Would love to team up with you for the Jam. Usually i'm open for anything but for this jam I have a particular vision. I want to make an easy-to-play but hard to master strategy game inspired by Euro board games, deckbuilding roguelikes and Zachtronics games. The game will be matched or 'run' based and have ton's of replay value as the player learns more about the system.

If that sounds good then I look forward to working with you. Also nice Dino game clone!

Good luck Remi, great to see you making more games :)

Thanks for your feedback. I agree that the 'hiding' mechanic is not fully explained, it does not explain that you must hide behind an object. Oops yes i suspect there are a few sound bugs.

I totally agree :) I thought of having knights that jump as there movement, but did not have time to problem-solve and implement.

Amazing, the close camera was so intense. Got that 'simulation' feeling... this is a great 'toy', 'experience' type of game... and that trippy effect is perfect :)

Thankyou! Remi will love to hear that :)

Hi Remi,

I am also fairly new to Game Jams and game development. I have participated in two game jams, which you can find on my channel. I have also made a handful of small games outside of that. I am however very good at finishing projects i begin.

I would be glad to work with you. This is a very short Jam, so I'm not sure there will be time to do a proper collaboration.  I also know making art takes a long time. However if you would still like to collaborate, this would be my suggested timeline:

  • Friday or Saturday- agree on a game concept, main mechanics and needed art assets
  • Sunday- finish game and implement all art assets
  • Sunday or Monday- publish

If you would still like to collaborate let me know ASAP :)

Oliver.

How's the gamedev going? Still keen to play another build.

Such a strange, hilarious and fun use of match three. It gather resources, destroys enemy building and creates the map for the impending battle. This was a real mind bender trying to work out how to spend resources, when to save and spend. Adorable transition animations too :)

Whew, that game is really brutal to start with. It's a race against the clock from the beginning since your constantly accumulating debt. I ended up really loving that craziness, especially the market which could change its prices in an instance.

Hey, thanks for the response, i'd happily play an early build.

Had a lot of fun playing this. Good overall system design, whereby you really had to play and test things out to work out which cards were good. After i felt i had seen all the cards and the game difficulty was not pushing me to innovate i put the game down (i was on on level twelve).

Some balance suggestions *(2-5-18 update) you can take or leave:

-toolkit is problematic since it is a draw card which pays for itself (draw two lose two) essentially allowing you to play as if you had a much smaller deck
-all attack cards fall off in power level very soon- because so many monsters spawn in the later game it is very poor tempo to try and defeat them (the only seemingly viable attack is the one which turns them into grass, cool card design)
