Thank you so much for playing!

We did have a few bugs in the end - hopefully the new version has considerably less but we'll definitely take a look and see if we can fix those missing images + overlapping sprites.

I'm so delighted you enjoyed playing it, that means everything to us and the team! We were curious to see whether the resource management mechanic would be of interest to the Spooktober audience, so your feedback is very helpful!

Sorry for my late response!Thank you so much for playing, this has made our day to see. We didn't know how survival-based visual novels would do in this game jam, so we're very grateful for this feedback!

This is a powerful interactive story that helps express an 'invisible illness' that affects so many people and has long been misunderstood. Games like these are valuable and can do a lot of good to raising awareness as well as also helping others to feel that they're not alone with chronic fatigue.

Another point about chronic fatigue is how expensive it is to be ill and how lonely it can be. I hope that narratives that can express this can help encourage positive changes.

This is a seriously fun game! The enemies are very creative and the funky music matches the fun retro vibes. I really enjoyed this! I managed to get to level 4 but will have to try again. Each level is eye-catching and well planned.

These are really beautiful, and really cool! I can imagine these assets being really useful to the vn dev community, thank you.

This is seriously cool! Thank you for sharing.

Thanks for playing! :)

This game is very fun! I love the concept, I love the supporting music and sound effects, I love the PENGUINS! I feel this game is perfect for a festival where you'll hopefully get a number of players playing together.

Congratulations for your debut game! How did you find the experience?

There is an impressive amount of text, I'm very curious on what the total word count is? I felt the story was a quirky, spooky adventure and some of the twists  caught me off guard. The art stupports the story very well and you have used sound to boost the intended atmosphere.

I don't want to spoil the story in my comment, so I'll simply end with what actually is a microwave anyway?

What a beautiful game! I felt the simple, interactive gameplay helped keep focus on the narrrative which is your prime goal. The art is very beautiful and stylised, which brings a tremendous amount of life and character to the story. The sound effects and music were spot on.

It couldn't have been easy creating a game that has a lot of emotional charge with you. Well done :)

Yarr! Always love a ship-themed game :)

I thought this was an ambitious game for a solo developer, as the mechanics are quite complex. I enjoyed taking down the other ships and the slow pace simulated a little realism on what ship battles potentially should feel like.

I appreciated the sound effects you used which brought me into the theme of your game. I felt the music might have a been a little repetitive as it went on, a change of music among different levels could help the levels feel more unique as you go through.

Very cool concept.

Honestly I think this game is very impressive for a game jam. I found it fun, moreish, the voice acting lines were hilarious. I loved the slightly passive aggressive instructions and the crash comments - of which I managed many. The menu looks very clean and fresh and the sound is spot on for a classic, retro driving game. I can't really imagine what more you could have done in such a limited time.

Thank you very much for playing! Long live narrative games :)!

Thank you very much for playing the game! The artists, Nia and Katie, are amazing <3

Cheers!

Thank you very much! :)

Thank you very much for taking a look! I was worried the prologue would be a bit too wordy, as I had originally intended to draw a storyboard to support it but didn't have time. I'm very happy you enjoyed the game!

I found this game to be quite relaxing! The music and consistent pace of the train added to this effect, and I liked how you've reimagined snake into a 3D, playable game.

If you were to continue working on the game, it might be fun to hear some train sounds when arriving at each station.

My best train length was 19.

What a novel game! There is no question that the game is very inventive, innovative and has a charming, silly vibe to it. I enjoyed taking a look at the posters and throwing ticket-less folk out the window where they belong.

Congratulations for your first game! I feel this game is really cute and your choice of assets have really made a charming game that I think will do well played in the festival. Your level design is challenging enough but accessible for a range of player skills and has distinct scenes and setting that keep the game interesting. I like your use of sound effects, the fall sound effect gives me the nostalgia of arcade games.

For future games, it might be an idea to implement additional effects when you win the game completely to generate a 'feel good' feeling for the player and have a reward for collecting the fruit, such as a highscore or a method of spending them.

I look forward to seeing what you'll do next!

Cheers Dan :)!!!

Thank you for taking a look! I'm very pleased you enjoyed the game and liked the voice acting and art.

I think this game hits well on innovative!  I love the concept of this one. I love reading the London Underground tube maps, they have a strong nostalgia for me, so this game really hits a nice spot. I felt the writing on your Itch.io page also described your game well.

I had a bit of trouble understanding the timing needed for the game, and sometimes I'd board an unexpected train carriage. Perhaps next time it might be an idea to consider how to make the two green lines more distinct as well. It felt satisfying hitting the correct station, and I was left wishing that there were more levels/alternative map designs after reaching a certain amount of stations. Will you return to this idea after the game jam?

My best score was:

Homes reached: 6
Efficiency: 33
Stations Visited: 18

Congratulations on the team's first Godot submission! I haven't used Godot myself before, how was it as an engine? Will you use Godot again?

This is a rather creepy 2D Dungeon crawler, you've got a nice variety of monsters there and the purple colours for the dungeon creates a bleak vibe! I felt the sound effects were on point with relevance and added to the game. I was grateful that the health regenerated over time, because I struggled a lot with the fighting aspect. There's always a few bugs in game jam games, I think I ended up with negative keys after restarting the game from dying - just for next time!

It'd be lovely to know on the Itch page what artist did what! The designs look great.

This is a pretty cool platformer game that reminds me that I'm absolutely terrible at platformer games! I felt especially for a first game, this is a pretty nice entry. It's got some atmosphere through the consistent dark blue background and sombre music, and the instructions are fun to read as you play. The sticky green mechanic was fun and the use of a bright colour made it easy to see. There are a range of fun mechanics to interact with to help you go through this dark, foreboding forest. I liked particularly the mechanic that sent me flying in a direction, carried by a nice sound effect!

With the map design, I struggled quite a lot at the first bit of jumping past the spikes with a low ceiling which forced me to make the most of that dash mechanic. It took me a number of tries but going through the other stages were challenging but not as difficult. I enjoyed the death statements when you respawn. For future, the game might be better with check points as you go through the game. There may be a few bugs here and there, but I think you've nailed the game jam theme.

Hello,

I found your game on the Game Anglia Discord.

I tested the fighting pits. I was a mercenary with melee, and unarmed, with the motivation of a survivor, and I got leather armour and a sword. I played two skirmishes then a duel, where I was bested by a brawler. I constantly missed my attack, I think I had around 15 turns, but managed to only strike three times.

The concept I think has the potential to be quite addictive and rewarding, and I would certainly think it worth to continuing working on this one! With the combat mechanics, as I continued to miss, I would suggest that it might be worth  looking into adding some balancing as missing constantly can be frustrating. I tried to reposition as well to improve accuracy and moved closer.

The game has a kind of rhythmn to it in the fighting pits and I think it was fairly easy to grasp, though when you are ready, sound effects will help add to the story telling element and flow of the game.

There are not many narrative elements to the game, and you may wish to add a randomised description on the opponents for a little bit of visual context. With the minimum narrative element on the backgrounds on the character selection, I didn't see a strong need to replay the game from a different background. Would it be worth having a little bit of text in-between fights? Or try to guide the player to particular goals in the fighting pits? I would also be interested in how to pick up upgrades for my character.

I think stylising the game a little more will also naturally make it enticing, consider changing the font for the main menu and other buttons.

I wish you all the best with the game development!

Any time, Jester!

I'd like to share your work with folks who don't usually read visual novels or use Itch. It might be an idea to set up installation instructions to help guide them on how to install and load your game, too.

(I was intimidated by Ren'py in the past, but I promise you its not as tricky as it feels like at the beginning! Still, making a VN on RPG Maker is quite impressive, I think!)

Yes, of course! Thank you :)

Oh my goodness , I love this entry! You've hit the nail on the head as someone based in the UK who has actually been trying to get a diagnosis. I love how your visual novel highlights a very important topic and the haunting imagery stresses the despair that one can feel when trying to speak with their GP.

The text... ‘If anything, it would only make things worse for you’ highlighted quite the horror and the accompanying image made me shiver.

I tried to change my answers, but the GP constantly ignored my request, was that intentional? If so, it makes sense to me!

I am very impressed you made this with RPG Maker and I felt the sound effects and ambience was very suitable.

On small details, I couldn't delete the name which began as 'second name',  which may require a bug fix.

I will definitely be sharing this entry around... I feel it can highlight quite an important issue. Again, great entry!

This is a very nice design, I love the use of curves.

I think is lovely. The sunflowers and the sparkling water from the fountain makes a lovely background alongside the sunrays and bokeh effect, but doesn't distract the reader too much from a potential text box that a visual novelist might use.

These expressions are great!

What a beautiful elf! I love the hair!

This is very cool!

Hi Rachel,

I'm not interested in AI and will not be purchasing any AI made assets. I enjoyed the assets I purchased from you sometime ago that were not made by AI, but I can no longer download them as they have been removed.

Would you be able to reupload the originals please?

Kind regards,

SO

Hello, would you allow customers to use this music for videos as well, or just games? :)

Thank you very much for taking a look! I am happy you love the use of the filters/distortion, I wasn't too sure how it'd be perceived.

(And congratulations for doing so well in the game jam! I also look forward to seeing what comes next for your team!)

Thank you very much for taking a look, Telin!  I appreciate your feedback and encouragement.

Very good points, if I go back to this game I'll take a look and see what I can do.

Thank you!
