Hi! We used the old dynamite-throwing-goblin asset to great effect in our game Goblin Coffee Break. We're working on a remake right now, and we'd be really excited to use a redrawn version of the asset if you were planning on revamping that one any time soon. Just wanted to let you know there's interest. We love your work!

We used the old dynamite goblin asset in Goblin Coffee Break. It's perfect :)

Thanks! We're glad you enjoyed it!

I'm so excited that this exists. I had to go as far as to  learn to write music in Deflemask myself because existing conversion tools didn't cut it. Not that learning Deflemask is a bad thing, but nonetheless thank you for developing a new tool :)

Thanks for taking a look!

That's good advice. I hadn't considered Atari Age. I also hadn't considered making a 32x version. Hmm...

Thanks so much! I appreciate the positive feedback!

Thanks!

This is a truly inspired idea. For extra challenge, I want to see a variation where you have to insert right-side-up USB-A plugs ;)

Thanks! Yeah he's... opinionated :)

thanks for checking it out!

I do hope it's gotten easier to find vgms in the 1.5 years since I wrote this guide. I found them so difficult to find at the time that I even posted a bunch of free vgm files that I made myself to try to nudge the ecosystem in the right direction: https://safetystoatstudios.itch.io/free-vgms

Ideally, I'd like community-contributed creative resources like this to be available in publicly searchable, indexed sites rather than hidden in somewhere in Discord, but I'm not going to complain about creative people giving away their work in the forums where they feel most comfortable.

I loved this. Very clever use of MD hardware to simulate kinds of glitches that would be a bit harder to mimic on a modern platform. You might want to put an epilepsy warning on the game's description since it has some flashing.

Possibly related to https://github.com/Stephane-D/SGDK/issues/363. We've had similar issues with Retrobit controllers in our games.

This is gorgeous work and a highlight of the competition. FWIW there's nothing wrong with a game being in dialogue with faith. Shin Megami Tensei games, for instance, involve lots of ideas from real-world religion and they're very popular.

The sequel is now in early access if you'd like to check it out https://safetystoatstudios.itch.io/golfanalia-2.

We used this asset and a handful of your other stuff for https://safetystoatstudios.itch.io/war-marbles-legacy. With a little tweaking, he becomes a perfect marble-throwing, 90s swamp creature.

I just discovered this game and I love it. I also felt like the bird was too heavy. I bet it would feel a lot better at like 50% of the current gravity. Have you tried https://morphcatgames.itch.io/spacegulls? It's super floaty, but feels right given the level layouts.

Baboo?

What changed in version 2? :)

You're welcome!

Thank you for distributing .vgm files. We've been on a tiny campaign to encourage people to do that (https://safetystoatstudios.itch.io/free-vgms)

Do you think it could be substantially optimized with more work or is this about the limit?

Thank you for selling the game digitally. That seems to be a rarity for Dreamcast Homebrew. I wouldn't buy I CD, but I'm excited to buy the image.

Congratulations! I think you've succeeded at making a game that should have existed in 1988 but didn't. It's clear that you put a lot of work and thought into this. Good job.

Thank you! That means a lot!

I've never been to Latvia, but now I'm concerned about all those firework displays that take place right next to apartment buildings. Seems a little unsafe.

Anyway, good game. Made me smile.

I love the artwork--particularly on the sprites. It looks different from the way that commercial NES games looked, and I applaud any effort to push the boundaries when we revisit old hardware. Keep it up!

Thanks! I like Kakoemon's stuff :)

Thanks so much! I've been mulling over some ideas for a sequel, and I'm glad to hear there's some interest in expanding the concept.

Very cool!

If it was on sale for 120 Yen, I would have bought it myself :)

Thanks!

Thanks! That's basically the copy on the itch.io page so that makes sense.

Yeah, even if I released a physical version of this game and had it made out of the most premium parts available, I doubt I could charge $120 for it :P

Thanks!

Thank you!

Thank you! I appreciate that I have somebody to commiserate with re: convention.

Thanks!

Cool. You're welcome
