I'm seeking an experienced Godot 3.5 programmer to work on a prototype of a fast-paced top-down shooter game similar to Hades and Binding of Isaac. I'll fulfilled the role of programmer and had some small help with programming but I'm relatively new to it, and I'd like to focus on art, animation and project management.

Responsibilities:

  • To collaborate and be able to follow the design doc and implement game mechanics and features in Godot 3.5.
  • Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code that is easy to maintain and modify.
  • Keep track of progress and to identify and fix bugs, and optimize performance.

Requirements:

  • Strong proficiency in Godot 3.5 and experience with top-down game development.
  • Experience with programming game mechanics, AI, and physics in Godot 3.5.
  • Good understanding of 2D game development concepts such as collision detection, sprite animation, and particle effects.
  • Ability to write clean, efficient, and well-organized code.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.

Bonus:

  • Experience with Git.
  • Familiarity with top down shooter rogue-lites.

This is a volunteer position, and while I cannot offer any monetary compensation, it is up to discussion if the project after the prototype is viable. I'm mainly looking for someone who is passionate about game development and it'll be nice to have something that's more polished than a game jam project for their portfolio.

My itch profile if you'll like to see my other projects.
Check my twitter for some more footage of the project.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Hello!

Thanks for taking the time to give feedback. I can see that, it does quite bloat the page. I might keep in the 7x7 parts to tell them what size the font is made in. Thank you!

Honestly, beautifully done!

Hello, I’ve recently posted my first free pixel font asset pack. I was wondering if the itch page might seem a little bloated with text and what you would look for in a font (for example: if I need any images that will show more of the font.) Any feedback which be much appreciated. Thank you!

Very smart and interesting submission to the 7DRL Jam. I love the case turning mechanics. Keeps it very fresh!

Looks great! Nice job on doing a post jam fix!

Hello! Sorry I found a team! Good luck with the jam and I look forward to your entry!

Thank you! Sorry, I found a team! Good luck with the search!

Super fun game! The difficulty really ramped up but it was fun!

I apologise! Not too sure why my brain switched to programming! Good luck with the search though!

thank you!

Hello, do you have experience in godot and might be interested in a top down shooter roguelite prototype? I regularly enter gamejams as the artist but don’t have too much experience in programming so it is taking some time working on it solo. I have my website attached to my itch.io if you’re curious on my art.

Add me on Discord if you’ll be interested to talk about it more: Mato#9165

Hello, might I apply. I haven’t got voice acting experience but I am more than happy to learn. I regularly enter gamejams as an artist and team leader. I have a high pitched voice and I’m over 18!

A wonderful header. I feel like there is a little distraction with the focus of the illustration. It feels like it should be Diamon, Spazy, Space ship but I’m getting Spazy, diamond then spaceship haha

Other than that, I love the colours and shapes used. It’s very well done!

(Also small side note, you missed a t in “this introduction text:”)

Very well done, felt the brushing and dancing could of had something more to it. After doing it a few times, I just stopped using it. I made it to the end! :D

I had so much playing these, very well executed. Great job!

These are wonderfully done. A nice smooth difficultly scale to the puzzles. Some left me stuck for a while, and it was very satisfying solving them. Well done with the Brackey's entry! Great stuff!

Very interesting game, I liked how the little man was speed running haha. The reset was a bit bugged. I like funny games like this, great work!

Very pretty, not sure if there was sound or I was bugging so I popped some of my own music on. Very difficult. I did not get far, but I did die alot haha. Great stuff

Keep up the good work haha!

Thank you for the kind words, I’m glad you enjoyed it. I did find that it was quite tricky for newer players.

Very fun, I agree with the others about being a little lost but it’s expected in a game jam with tight deadlines. You did a wonderful job, great stuff. I had fun!

Visuals are pleasant but quite challenging. Great stuff for three days!

Love the art and the lighting. Something about smooth lighting with pixel art always puts a nice warm spot in my heart. Great job!

So odd but I like the strange. We love Centiman! Great job! And well polished!

My pleasure, glad I could spot it!

My hands aaa, I always have problem with games with button mashing. Love the art, and very interesting concept. Well done!

Seems like it has quite a bit of potential. Not sure if you had coyote time but it ruined the flow for me a bit. Great job on entry, love the titanfall homage!

I failed too many times because I am impatient. Very funky game, great job guys!

Refreshing to see voice acting. My best score was 31.8! Good stuff, only thing that annoyed me was the gaps. Thought I could squeeze between them haha

Super polished for a a three day jam! The speedrun record is insane. Great job!
