Thanks for finding that one out !

Bonjour !

I hope everybody is pumped up and ready for the launch of the Jam in *check calendar* two days... oups i'm a bit late to the rush.

But anyway :)

I have created a discord server to help French translators looking for groups, proofreader or just support to get together and exchange.
https://discord.gg/bpPb4BCJ

The aim here is to get organized, to cooperate and have a jolly good time.

The server is France centric  but if anybody is looking  to do a non-france French translation it would be super nice to have this place to exchange and compare.

Bref, I hope it will help us have a nice JAM.

A plus,
N

Thanks, I'm glad you had a nice time with my version:)

Maybe a walkthrough would be a nice idea, I'll try do add that.

yes this particular spot with the door is problematic. But the issue is slightly different for French, because we would not say "entre dans la porte" (it would mean something akin to 'bump into the door').

In French it should be "entre par la porte", or "passe la porte", or "entre dans le château". I should try and modify that in the next build.

I'm always craving for IT>FR translation and localisation so don't hesitate to ring me ;)

I don't know if the label still being in lowercase distracts or add to the barbarian effect, but boy it got me laughing at the idea of the big old barbarian screaming at the top of their lungs "I SEE", just to add in a posh voice right after "an escutcheon painted on the ceiling".
10/10 would roll strength again

C'est déjà le cas dans le jeu ;)

Tu y es au côté de Moodo et Gnou.

Hello Alinamethyst,

Yes we still have not found exactly how to have only the to-translate text appear.
However, using custom segmentation rules you can have it separate from the code ('avant' is before, 'après' after) :Image

It's not perfect but at least you can deal with the text separate from the code :)

Hi iuvenca !

For id|iota, it's a ref to one of the in-game puzzle. If you try to use only one of the two half of the magic word the games answer "Ti capisco solo a metà", 'I can only half understand you'.

I'm also a bit at loss at the detail of the second point you raised, but I believe it might be something like "the IFEngine must be compiled" or "present". In doubt you could always replace the message by "Error with the IFengine" (that's what I did until i find a better solution)

Hope it helps :)

Sorry I initially wanted to add picture to make it more clear, but for some reason Itch would not let me....

TRADOS STUDIO

Similarly to MemoQ, Trados is a professional paying software. But it does not have a free trial period as far as I know, so I'll be a bit more concise.

To force Tardos to accept .js file:

- Go to the burger menu, then Option

- In File type click on "New" and select "Regular Expression Delimited Text"

- Configure the new file type witht he mane you want, and in the "file dialog wildcard expression" section write *.js

- Once the file type is created, go to "Document structure" and create a new rule:

opening pattern: `
closing pattern: `

- Try the preview to check if it work with your file. Then save and create your project as you like :)

MEMO Q
MemoQ is a paying software but it has a 30 day free trial which (conveniently) covers the entire locJAM period ;)
You can download the translator version directly off their website. and once installed you can request a free trial when it asks you for your activation code.

Then you can get down to it:

- Create a new Project without template, name it and set the source and target language.

- Import the "I8n" file (use the "All files" option to find it)

- Go to filters & configuration and search for the "Regex text filter"/defaul

- Click on "Change filter & configuration"

- Go to "Import/Exclude"tab and check the option called:
"Rules define imported content (nothing elese is imported)"

- Then add this rule:

 Before: ` After: `
 Rule: .+

Click "Add" and you can check to the Preview tab to see if it worked.

-Click OK until you can go to the next step Translation Memory. Create one with the "Create/use new". It should autofill correctly.

-Then click finish. It will process the files and drop you in the project menu. Double click the file:.

- And tadaa ! Your ready to translate

When you're done you can use Export to create the translated file.

Hello !

For those who are having trouble working directly into the javascript file, I recommend trying to use a CAT Tool.
A CAT is not just a wondeful brand of tractor or the translator favourite companion, but also a software that helps the translator keeping track of their translation. The Memory helps you by telling you how you previously translated similar sentences, and the UI put source and target clearly side by side.

In our Javascript case, it can also help because you can program it to give you only the text that needs translating :)
There are plenty plenty of options out there, and I imagine you can make .js file work with pretty much any of them.
But I use these one, so here is how to add a .js file and have it properly analyzed.

I'll talk about MemoQ (free trial) and Trados Studio (no free trial). The best solution is OmegaT (free and open source) but I could not make it work for the time being.
If you know how to make OmegaT accept .js file please share it below. And If you're familiar with any other software don't hesitate to share as well !

Hi soupdragonqueen, LeLimier, I thought we could use the discord server created by Roxana for the jam. That way we could also discuss details of the game with other translation team as well :)
If you're not already on it you can join and find me in the Ita>Fr section ;)

https://discord.gg/bdF4Aq9Dg

Hi Le limier ! I'm not sure I understand which language pair you want to work on but it be great to cooperate.

Soupdragonqueen, if you want to use my FR version to translate in EN that would be fun. Let's try and coordinate spmething :)

We could all get together so that nobody is working from the same version.

I translate it into FR, somebody does FR>EN,  then I retranslate it EN>FR, then FR>DE, then DE>JA... and so on until we end back up to IT and then we compare the two texts ;)

Hello !

I'm a IT to FR translator,  I intend to work on the game in this pair, but if anyone is interested in FR>anything else we could pair up to produce the double translation ;)

Usually English is the pivot language but it's a LocJAM so to hell with it. If you've studied FR and want to translate the game from it to your language it would be super fun to work together so let me know ;)

If somebody else is looking for a team to localize the game in FR, I would be very happy, and it would be nice to make the first pivot FR version faster for potential colleagues.
