This was super fun and engaging, and I almost missed a bus because I was so sucked in. As a big fan of Balatro, this was super fun for me, and seeing some mechanics from Balatro helped because they felt intuitive to me. I will say, there was a definite lack in onboarding, which left me quite lost at first, but hey, the game's so polished in almost every other regard, so it's fine. Loved the pixel art, soundtrack, and satisfying sfx. In terms of how you may be able to improve it, I feel like every single turn I played, I was just barely winning, which makes me feel like the balancing might need to be tweaked slightly. To get someone hooked, winning a crazy hand at the start always feels so good and makes them want to keep playing (gambling psychology). Also, at least with my 2 runs, I was hardly ever making enough stardust to buy constellations at the start, even tho the game tells me to buy them, early. It isn't very fun to save up for like 2 rounds in a row without buying anything at the start of the game. Maybe cards get more expensive as you play? Idk. Anywho this was great, and a super cool connection to the theme. Great job!!
This is a fun interpretation of the theme! It left me with a lot of questions like why do some orbs give me glowing dots, but others don't, which I still don't undertsand after playing a few times. Some advice I would give is to alter the text a bit, showing the player text while the screen is moving, and they should be doing stuff is a surefire way to not get anyone to read your text. There were times when I was too focused on moving the ball to read. My favorite thing in the game is the ending which shows your whole journey. That was super cool. Great job
Thank you so much, that’s really awesome to hear! I initially came up with the idea while on a walk after a long day at work, the streets were lit up by Christmas lights and it made me so happy. We had previously made a clicker game in the past, and I came up with the idea of a new clicker game that you progress by making others happy and spreading holiday cheer rather than by just getting rich. I think it really just sums up what that special feeling around the holidays is which comes from generosity, kinship, and love. In terms of the addicting gameplay, I think the sfx and light activation feels rly nice, and that sense of progression is pretty tantalizing. I’m so glad you enjoyed the game!!
Ok this is super cool! At first I was confused because the first 5 levels I just clicked each skeleton immediately with no fails so I wasn't sure what was going on. Then I had an AHA moment in level 6 where I got stuck for the first time and it all clicked. This is really fun and the level design and minimalist style are really great!
This is a really cool concept for a puzzle game! I think having some sfx in the game could elevate the experience a lot, sometimes I couldn't tell if the switch mechanic was working so having a clear and audible sound queue would really help! Also you may want to either lower jump floatiness or just scale up the wall prefabs because I was able to just jump over them in a few different parts (namely the yellow one in level 2). Nice job though this is pretty neat!
Wow this soundtrack is so awesome! I think the roguelike elements are rly cool and its a nice concept. Maybe it was a skill issue, but the jumping felt kinda clunky to me. I had a lot of trouble getting from one platform to the next bc I was either a) not jumping high enough, or b) jumping too high and hitting my head on a different platform. My suggestion to mitigate this issue is having a jump meter UI to help the player vizualize how high they're going to jump. This could be pretty juicy too if it had accompanying sfx. Nice job!
This music fit perfectly for a game jam project I made! Super awesome stuff! Here it is if u are interested: https://owenbk.itch.io/neon-cyborg-massacre
