It took me a lot of trial and error to figure out how to use the Theme well. But I'm really happy with how it turned out in the end!  :D

I did my best to keep everything (art / music) minimalistic (yet still fitting) so that I had plenty of time to execute the Theme and mechanics as best I could.
There's just so little time in 48 hours! ;-;

Coming up with the concept took some serious thinking (and it didn't happen right away — originally the game was supposed to be entirely different until I realized what I was working on just wasn't fun :c ).

But I am thrilled things worked out in the end, and I'm glad you loved the signs so much! (I loved making them!)  x3

The only thing I noticed that I could offer the teensiest bit of constructive criticism about is your sound effect. It has a scratchy ending to it. It kind of hurts your ears lol like nails on a chalk board type hurt.

(The only thing I would have really liked to do was make the experience longer... It really was too short).

I'm not sure if it's my cup of tea — but the fact that you got it out in 48 hours is what's truly impressive!

I found that sometimes the controls could "freeze up", which prevented me from progressing a few times. However, I was amazed that your game actually saved my progress when I had to force quit!  :o

When it came to the game's development, I really tried my best to spare no expense while still staying within the deadline.
And yeah, I totally barely survived.

I would do it again, though!

I couldn't find a way to get both meters to go down at once — I kinda overshot my mark multiple times in both meters, and it didn't seem possible to correct my error.  :c

There doesn't seem to be a way to exit the game, though. (Task Manager does work wonders, however).

I enjoyed punching my arch-nemesis (the pink rectangle).

Not sure if my screen's aspect ratio was weird — but there didn't seem to be a quit button anywhere. :o

This is definitely a very impressive Game-Jam game.

The Art, Music, and Sound Effects all fit great and they really compliment the already amazing atmosphere.

Furthermore, the attention to the visual and narrative details on this project is truly impressive. I can tell a lot of polish went into those!

I could totally see this Game-Jam game as a real, full-fledged game. :D

Wow you've worked 45 hours???? That's insane!

Well, the actual development hours was closer to 24-28.

I liked to take short breaks and I made sure to sleep. :D


But I understand the hate for sloppy code! On the last hours everything think was public, dragged around from the inspector or event static hahaha I hate it so much

The amount of random scripts I had lying around because of scrapped designs or code is amazing. The project's code and organization literally looks like a bomb went off in an Indie Game Developer Studio's intern stairwell.

I do admit, simply irritating people is very welcome change from going full-on serial killer like in most games. :D

I wish I could have made a longer game because I really loved writing the signs. :3

Figuring out how to effectively utilize the Theme was truly the most difficult part of making this game (and this Game Jam in general).

I went through multiple ideas in my head and at least one other prototype (which got scrapped) before I settled on — well, what we have here. :)

As for developing this Jam-Game into a real one — I am actually deeply considering it.

Polishing the game wasn't easy — movement and level traversal had not been 100% solidified until I hit the four-hours left mark.
I spent the last three hours making levels, and then I just crossed my fingers on a successful build.  x<

I had no idea Lizards would actually do that.  o-o

I'm glad you learned so much from the Game Jam! :D

For me, the things I learned were:

  1. Proper time management.
  2. How to effectively fight scope-creep.
  3. How to work in a high-speed environment where results was the most important aspect.
  4. How to build and export WebGL games.

And as a bonus; I learned I really hate writing sloppy code.

For me, the Game Jam was a big mix of a LOT of hard work and just a little bit of fun. To be honest, the Jam only became fun right around the 45 hour mark where my project really started to come together. :c

But all in all, I am thrilled I was able to completely my game within the 48 hours and I consider the project to be a complete success (considering its my first Game Jam). :D
