Thank you so much for the detailed feedback and for picking up the game! I really appreciate you taking the time to share all of this. ⚽🤝

I'm working on it right now and I'll be rolling out a brand new update within the week to address and fix all of these points. 🛠️✨ Enjoy the agent life, and stay tuned for the patch! 💼🔥

Huge thanks for the detailed report, GiantDogRacer 🙏 Every one of these is fixed in v1.1, which just went live:

  • Clubs overpaying wildly (5M for a 30k player) — fixed, fees are value-based now.
  • You can now remove unwanted players from the market so it doesn't get flooded.
  • The wage/contract request that wouldn't go away after you talked or refused — fixed.
  • The gala prestige popup (and every other missed string) is now translated in all 17 languages.

Reports like yours are exactly what makes the game better — thank you for taking the time. Update it and let me know if anything still feels off!

Hey cubeax,

First off — thank you. You stuck with this through several messages and helped me pin down exactly what was going on, and I really appreciate that. 🙏

Good news: the issue was on the build side, not your PC — there's nothing wrong with your machine, and the game fully supports your setup.

In plain terms: The Agent renders its interface through a Windows component called WebView2. In the previous build, the WebView2 loader was set up to load as a separate file rather than being embedded in the app — so on systems where that file isn't already present, Windows couldn't locate it, even with the WebView2 Runtime installed (which is why reinstalling the runtime didn't resolve it). It's also why other games don't hit this: they embed it directly.

I've reconfigured the build so the loader is now compiled straight into the game — no external files, no extra installs, nothing for you to do. It's the more robust setup and removes that dependency entirely. The updated build is live on the store page.

Whenever you get a chance, could you re-download The Agent from your itch library and reinstall over the old one? It should launch straight into the game this time.

If anything still isn't right, just email me at ordinarygeniussoftware@gmail.com and I'll get on it right away. Thanks again for your patience and for helping make the game more solid for everyone. Enjoy, and go sign some wonderkids. ⚽

Yeah, that's completely understandable — and honestly, if you've never experienced this with any other game, I don't want to assume the problem is on your end either.

It may be something specific to how The Agent is packaged or initialized on certain systems, so I'd like to investigate it properly rather than just keep asking you to reinstall things.

Please send me your Windows specs/screenshot at ordinarygeniussoftware@gmail.com. I'll use that to reproduce and debug the issue on my end.

I'll be waiting for your email, and I'll do everything I can to get this resolved as quickly as possible. Thanks again for your patience and for helping me track this down. 🙏

If WebView2 is already installed and the new build is still giving you the same error, then there must be something else going on that I'm missing.

Could you send me your Windows specs so I can investigate this properly? A screenshot of Settings → System → About would be perfect.

You can send the screenshot and any additional details to ordinarygeniussoftware@gmail.com.

I'll be waiting for your email, and I promise I'll do my best to get this resolved as quickly as possible. I really want to figure out what's causing this on your system.

Sorry you're still dealing with this, and thanks again for your patience! 🙏❤️

Hey cubeax! 👋 Just checking in one last time — did the updated build work for you?

The new version includes the missing WebView2 component, so it should now install and launch normally without any extra steps.

If it's working now, I'd really appreciate it if you could update your original comment or leave a quick reply saying it's resolved. I just don't want other players to see the old issue and think the game is still broken. 🙏

If you're still having trouble, no worries at all — just let me know and I'll sort it out.

Thanks again for your patience and for giving the game a chance! ❤️

Hey cubeax — sorry again for the trouble! ✅ The updated build is now live — it bundles the missing Windows component, so just re-download The Agent from your itch library and reinstall, and it'll run with no extra steps. No more WebView2 errors.

Thanks again for your patience and for supporting the game — it genuinely means a lot for a solo dev. 🙏

If you feel like it, you're very welcome to join our Discord — it's where I post updates, take bug reports, and share what's coming next: https://discord.gg/vCuxqgM9ZC (totally optional, no pressure). Hope you enjoy the game! ⚽

Hey cubeax — really sorry for the hassle, and thank you for buying the game! 🙏 That error means the Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime (a small, free Windows component the game uses to render) isn't installed on your PC. It's normally pre-installed on Windows 10/11, but it's missing on some machines — that's why you see "WebView2Loader.dll cannot be found" and why the folder only has the .exe + uninstaller. Nothing you did wrong.

Quick fix (1 min) so you can play right now:

  1. Open Microsoft's official page: https://developer.microsoft.com/microsoft-edge/webview2/
  2. Under "Evergreen Bootstrapper", click Download and run it (free, from Microsoft).
  3. Launch The Agent again — it'll start.

I'm also uploading an updated installer that bundles this runtime, so no one has to do this step — I'll reply here when it's live. If it still won't run afterward, message me and I'll sort it out or refund you, no problem. Thanks for your patience and for supporting the game! ⚽

There's a lot more — the Full Version just went live on itch! Still no firm Steam date, but everyone who buys it now gets a free Steam key when it launches there. Thanks so much for playing, hope you enjoy the full game! 🧠💀

Quick update — the Full Version is live on itch now! It includes everything we talked about (the client-request fix, event boxes moved to the Inbox, icon tooltips + the legend, the bigger women's leagues, and the new PR & Reputation option) plus a lot more. You mentioned grabbing it on Steam — good news: buying the Full Version now gets you a free Steam key the day it lands there, so no need to wait. Thank you again for all the detailed feedback, it genuinely shaped this release. 🙏

Thank you, that really means a lot! No Steam page just yet — but the Full Version is out right now on itch. Everyone who buys now gets a free Steam key the moment it launches on Steam, so you'd be getting in early. Hope you enjoy it! ⚽

Thanks so much, really glad the five season demo felt smoother, that was exactly the goal.

Good catch on the Women's league. That wasn't a bug exactly, the women's leagues were set up smaller than the men's, so with fewer teams they played fewer matches, which capped things around 22. But you're right that it left your women clients with fewer games and thinner stats, which isn't fair. So I've made the women's leagues the same size as the men's top division now. Same number of teams, same number of matches, same chance to rack up appearances and goals.

And I love the PR idea, so I built it. There's now a PR & Reputation option on the office screen. After you take a hit from slander, poaching or bad press, you can run a PR campaign that spends a bit of energy and cash to pull your club and player reputation back up toward a healthy baseline. It won't push you above that line, you still earn the top end on the pitch, but it gives you a real counter to a run of bad luck instead of just having to eat it. It's on a short cooldown so it stays a considered move rather than a spam button.

Really appreciate you taking the time to write all this up. Hope to see you on Steam soon too :) .

Thank you so much for this, it's honestly one of the most useful comments I've gotten. And it means a lot that you'd pick it up on Steam. Good news is I'm fixing both bugs in an update going out today.

You were spot on about the client requests not closing. They weren't being marked done when you handled them some other way, and that's what caused those brutal reputation hits as your roster grew. It's fixed now. Requests check whether their goal has actually been met and close themselves properly, so no more penalties for stuff you already dealt with. The event boxes covering the player cards are sorted too. Those panels now only show up in the Inbox tab, so your squad screen stays clean and you can always reach every client.

And you're right that the icons needed explaining. There wasn't a legend, which is on me. So this update adds hover tooltips to every icon and trait, plus a proper legend button on the squad screen. To answer you directly: the ⚡ means Wonderkid (young player, high potential), the 🎽 means national team caps, and traits like Wonderkid and Star aren't hidden modifiers. They're just labels summarising a player's strengths, like an attribute sitting at 80+ or an elite overall, so you can read a player at a glance.

Not overly critical at all. This is exactly the kind of feedback that sharpens the game before Steam, and I really appreciate you taking the time. Thank you for playing.

Thank you :) No date for the Steam release yet, but I'm planning to push a new update to the game soon. Have fun!

We’re building a small team for the Halloween Jam and I think your skills could be a great fit. Would you be interested in joining us?

You can reach me on Discord: xoridof

That would be awesome! I’m totally open to adding voice acting if it fits the tone and scope of the game. If you’re interested, feel free to add me on Discord: xoridof

Hey everyone!
I’m assembling a small creative team for GameDev.tv’s Halloween Jam 2025, and hopefully for future spooky projects as well.

I work with Unity, Unreal Engine, and GDevelop as a programmer and designer, handling coding, gameplay systems, and level design.
Inkveil has joined as our writer, and FrankieIronHand as our sound designer.
We’re currently looking for collaborators skilled in 3D modeling and animation to complete the team.
Having experience with low-poly or PS1/PSX-style 3D modeling would be a big plus! 👾

If you enjoy strange, narrative-driven, or experimental games, we’d love to hear from you.
Let’s create something memorable, eerie, and fun together! 🎃

Feel free to reach out on Discord: xoridof
