What I Loved

  • Loved the gameplay loop, finding things with a time limit is exciting
  • You being a super jumping paper clip

What I Wished

  • I had no Idea I could interact with anything until reading comment on the submission page, wish there was some controls listed somewhere like the page description
  • After a few more attempts I wasn't able to find the apple even after looking through the boxes on the top shelf twice :(
  • Wish I was skilled enough to finish the game
  • Some variety of sounds (maybe the fan is spinning and swooshing sound, stuff like that)

What needs Work

  • Graphics leave a lot to be desired (model variety and placement was good just needed some textures)
  • Mouse didn't get locked to the game was very annoying
  • When the timer hit 0 the just game froze

Overall enjoyed my experience

For a first time submission it needs work but Good Job submitting a game that runs, that is the hardest part

Nice Game!

What I Loved

- The artwork is really beautiful I love the look

- The variety in types of characters

- The grave keeper

- The puzzle aspect

What needs work

- Didn't know where to go to the church for the first time (might be me thing

Overall had a good time

Good Game!

Extra Notes Took my an 1h 14m to complete w/ breaks

(2 edits)

Amount of time played: 30m

What I Loved

  • Love the graphics and vibe of the game
  • The subtle camera movement when moving the fireplace feels awesome
  • The flavor text

What I Wished

  • I wish I had a sense of direction on what direction to go
  • After reading the comments on the submission page I wish I read it earlier cause it said that there was no ending (whoops). Wish I knew that after trying to progress to something for 30 minutes :/

What needs Work

  • The bell gong is so much louder than everything else
  • I some UI bugs where it shows the unicode but it doesn't display properly
    • on the game over screen it shows: [U+2190]Back (unicode left arrow)
    • on the timer at the top show U+2666 6 (unicode black diamond)
  • There are a lot of fire orbs that are out in the open visually but something invisible kept on blocking me and not letting me grab them.
    • about 7-8 minutes of playing so far and this bug is frustrating when I was at 2 or 3 seconds and really needed a orb to keep progressing and exploring
    • now about 25 minutes in I had too many runs end where that happened its a big problem)

Cool Game, Love the vibe!

Thanks for the balance praise I tried to make it approachable for people who don't play platformers but found that people who are very experienced do have a easy time.

Thanks for taking the time to check it out!

Sadly didn't have time for sound but thanks for the nice comments and detailed info on the attempts.

Thanks for Playing!

The gameplay fitting on most screens is what I was worried about on the web build I did try to make it 75% of 1080p so it would fit on most but sadly that doesn't seem to be a one size fits all solution.

There is a full screen button in the bottom right of the game but it's not too obvious when you have to scroll I realize now.

Thank for the praise of gameplay and checking it out!

Looked up at bounce and even the diagonal level design is like something I made lol

Thanks for checking it out!

My score by puzzle 31/38: 0270

What I Loved

  • The way the text is displayed, animated, and sounds is awesome & satisfying
  • The flips mechanic is a interesting and creative way to implement the prompt
  • The coffee shop vibe of the audio really got chilled out
  • The gameplay loop

What I Wished

  • I wish up arrows key allowed me undo by a letter since I used the arrow keys and sometimes missed a letter by 1
  • Wish there was a hint button but it seems like that would be really hard to implement with this type of game (undo worked really well just something I thought of while playing)
  • Wish I was able to finish the game but I got stuck on puzzle 31 for over 2 hours w/ breaks and eventually gave up

What needs Work

  • I don't know how the dictionary was created but I found 1 word missing "SEEL" at puzzle 30

Overall had a good time thinking about words

Good Game!

Thanks for the countdown menu praise! I've had feedback that said they won't click it because they have to click 60 times lol.

Thanks for playing and checking it out!

(1 edit)

Since the game isn't multiplayer a improvement would be when the player busts it should just game over

Would be fun multiplayer!

Had a bug where the timer was just scrambled and couldn't see it could down (the other players didn't have enough to buy modifiers, even if they did I had a block modifier ability)

Enjoyed my time.

Nice Game!

I love the neighborhood look.

The camera scroll zoom in and out effect is cool, would love to see it refined.

I only see one way to fail and that is repeatably clicking the left yellow car and not moving the red car or just not click at all lol.

Hopefully next time you'll have more time to create a puzzle!

  • Liked the way you used the countdown prompt
  • The real life pictures pixelated look
  • Microwave sound effects were satisfying

What I Wished

  • Had a bug where I could put sugar into a 2 slot on the left

What I Loved

  • The use of the Countdown prompt
  • Gameplay loop
  • Love the variety of puzzles
  • Love the music
  • The way the tutorial teaches you about the game is very well made
  • Really Loved the final puzzle bringing most of the concepts all together

What I Wished

  • More Puzzles!
  • A stat at the end telling how many attempts I took

What needs Work

  • The first puzzles with a = sign was confusing as at first I thought it was a floor design and was confused on what to do (might be a me thing)

  • Loved popping the balloons was very satisfying

What I Wished

What needs Work

  • Graphics left more to be desired

Enjoyed my time with the game

Nice Game!

(1 edit)

Thanks, glad you liked it, and thanks for checking it out! Gave me an idea of having a rolling mechanic for the ball mode!

(1 edit)

Time to Complete: 23 minutes

What I Loved

  • Loved the sound effect when moving around
  • Very quickly it am able to jump from platform to platform with ease and the levels felt less hazardous felt super overpowered
  • Love the rouge-lite gameplay
  • Felt overpowered I was jumping above the map and zooming around felt great
  • Love the smoke effect and the lean when speeding up as the son of father time

What I Wished

  • Wish I was able to look around with the 3D camera perspective
  • Wish it told me the total percent to have a Father time on the upgrade screen

What needs Work

  • Quickly felt no need to avoid the goo or phones
  • I had 4 level where a clock was in a piece of goo and couldn't visually find it (idk if this is on purpose)
  • Play again at the thank you for playing screen doesn't work

    Overall had a good time

    Good Game!

Time to Complete: 1hr 32m

What I Loved

  • Love all the different button pressing sounds
  • The everything graphic wise looked beautiful and everything I clicked sounded satisfying
  • The gameplay loop
  • Had to whip out the pen and paper for the shape code puzzle

What I Wished

  • Had a desire to scroll out the camera with the scroll wheel to see the whole board (maybe just to see but not able to interact when zoomed out?)
  • Wish it was more obvious when a puzzle would give time, I felt hopeless about the timer until I finished a puzzle that gave time
  • When at the point of optimizing the run for getting the key and putting it in the hole I wish I had a quick restart button (like R) for when I messed up a puzzle and knew I wouldn't have enough time to get to the key hole

What needs Work

  • No idea I had to press space on the first screen
  • 3 countdown cycles to figure out that I has to press WASD to look around started by just clicking everything I could see

Overall I really enjoyed the game!

Extra Stuff I wrote down

Order I figured out the puzzles (might be useful):

  1. Was able to figure out the main goal after pressing the red button! Traced the red wire -> yellow -> blue wires/switches to a screw panel
  2. Was able to open the screwdriver panel but didn't have enough time to open the panel on the left (was slightly frustrated)
  3. I figured out that the green buttons gave extra time and was able to get the key out but I had no idea what I had to with it
  4. Next I decided to get the figure out the shape & color puzzle took a while to find the light switch that revealed a code and felt more joy when I figured out that the puzzle added even more time!
  5. I decided to figure out what the blue triangles did, I chained together and optimized the puzzled I finished to try and figure it out, took about 7-8 countdown cycles to chain all the puzzles together cleanly and get the code! Then I knew what I needed the key for!
  6. I first tried to finish the game by chaining together the 2 puzzles that add time then doing the screwdriver/key as fast a possible then entering the code/red button as fast as possible, was definitely not enough time
  7. Next I tried slowly but surely to chain all the puzzles into 1 big optimized run here is my final order:
order I took to finish:
- screwdriver button 1 & bottom left green button
- yellow to blue & blue write switch 1
- screwdriver button 2 & bottom right green button
- 134312 color switches & blue wire switch 2
- screwdriver button 3 & top left green button
- screwdriver button 4 & top right green button
- screwdriver
- blue wire switch 3 & blue wire switch 4
- open panel & blue wire switch 5
- key & blue to yellow switch
- number keypad & red button
- key hole

Good Game!

Ya that last jump wasn't too difficult for me but after play testing with friends I realized I should of added a respawn point to the last jump or make it easier.

Thanks for playing!

(1 edit)

Never encountered that bug during play testing thanks for letting me know!

Thanks for checking it out!

Retry:

Your explanation of the bad luck mechanic was enough for me to fill up the void meter once and I was able to get to the second phase on my first try!

Holy moly there is a laser! And giant harmful voids!

I FINISHED THE GAME! and destroyed the stupid town lol.

Made me wish that the attack the void button and dash is different because when I am so close I accidentally waste precious void on a dash when I thought I had enough.

Your suggestion of how the bad luck mechanic works does make the game a lot easier maybe a tutorial on that mechanic somehow.

Bug Context:

The void orb thing tutorial only happened on my first playthrough once, so I cannot recreate it so it probably not a major bug and a rare thing.

The walking on water bug was something I noticed in main game. But it is very minor so I wouldn't worry about it.

When I was using the bad luck mechanic even though I swear I was still walking I would die sometimes.

Very ambitious to create a multiplayer game, sadly I have no one who would play this type of game to try it out with,

Wish there was a single player mode that lets me just try the characters vs simple enemies and see how the game feels.

(3 edits)

What I Loved:

The simple design and it putting you straight into the thick of it was a really good choice made you get what the game was going for fast and made me get into the zone of very quick.

The artstyle was very simple but I think it didn't need to be anything more.

The music was groovy, I played long enough that the music stopped, lol.

I am very glad you added a pause because I was at 600,000 highscore and had to leave my desk for 5 minutes and didn't want to lose my streak, thank you!

What needs Improvement:

I wish there was more to the game maybe like upgrade you can pick up that give you 3 choices of what to get like a rouge-like, or even something simpler like a powerup that changes your ship into fast one with more control but it takes 3 shots to kill or something slower but you shoot wider bullets that can pass through 2 or 3 enemies

This was a very good arcade shooter! Good Game!

Highscore: 814,000

For the 2D section it was more a last minute thing addition as I couldn't finished what I planned and wanted to give the player at least an end screen to know they finished. (The sprite animation/placement was rough around the edges)

After some play testing I found I should of put a respawn point at the last jump as everyone IRL I gave the game to felt a little frustrated at that part (maybe thats a good thing, like overcoming a challenge, idk, hard to say)

Personally I found that if I kept it WASD in the 2D section I wouldn't have to tell the player to press a new button they never pressed before in the 3D section which is why I kept jump as W

Thanks for trying it out! and thanks for the 3D section praise!

What I loved:

The the hand drawn art style to the game and the simple colors does make it feel very relaxed. Also the face of the faeries when carrying stuff was funny.

Love the no time limit lets you take your time to figure things out and relax to the music.

The pixies never sleep gotta get the tea out 24/7 lol

Enjoyed the gameplay. Felt like it needed an end goal though.

What need Improvement:

Wish there was an end goal like get this much money to win the game or serve this many customer. I did reach a point where I was relaxed and chill but had no drive to continue as I upgraded the faeries to a high degree but had no need to hire more than the default.

I did have some trouble understanding how the water worked. I found the way to make it work is to click the cup multiple times until the kettle is filled with water to fill the cup.

There were multiple time when the pixies were carrying something and I click on the black orb to combine them but the pixies would just drop the thing they were carrying and go pick up the thing I wanted to combine with instead.

If I try to make multiple teas at the same time when they are in the serve screen I don't know which one was which because they look the same and spawned on top of each other. It does force you to serve one at a time.

Nice Game!

What I loved:

Love the art style. The way all the sprites are super well made and how all the colors are vibrant. Also the detail in all the backgrounds

I was head bobbing to the NES music, very groovy music.

The attention to detail in the player animation of the little hop when going sideways really does add to it.

What Needs Improvement:

Never really understood how on the street I would sometimes get run over and other times I would get void out cars even after multiple experimentation runs.

Game felt super chaotic at first. Even after my first 20 try's still felt pretty chaotic. Still enjoyed the game and had a fun time.

After playing for over an hour I am confident I am not skilled enough to fill my void meter 3 times to win the game. I couldn't even do it once :(

Good Game!

Bugs:

In the dash tutorial no void orbs spawned in that section which confused me on my first run just restarted the game to try again because I thought I missed some text.

If you hug the top of the screen you can glitch the river section into not killing you and just walk on water. (not all the time though?)

If you stay still at the beginning of the main game after a retry and don't move forward you can get behind the void kill plane and not play and the camera keeps scrolling up. If you do move after the respawn it does game over. (Nice way to look at the art though)

Really loved the game.

I felt level 4 to be the hardest level out of all of them.

The music was a nice vibe.

The mix between 3D models and 2D was a look I haven't really seen before, also all the background were dynamic and moving with things happening in them which is awesome. Really like the backgrounds art style!

Game felt well balance could of played 10 levels.

Short and Sweet, Good Game!

Tried Zen Mode a few times and got 240 meters

I am glad that the horror vibe in the 3D came through, I was worried it wouldn't feel that way. Hopefully I can flush it out on a later date and add some jump scares ;)

Thanks for Playing!

I wish that death would just give a choice of restarting everything or going back to the last decision.

Love the writing it really describes the scenarios quickly and just enough to let my imagination run wild.

First ending I got is the Real World Ending
Second Ending I got is the Survivor Ending

- After seeing the text multiple times I wished I could click to speed up the text speed.

Third Ending I got is The Poolrooms Ending

- When Going for the next 3 ending I really wished for a going back to last choice mechanic as it was very cumbersome to figure out where all the deaths are.

Fourth Ending: MEG Ending
Fifth Ending I got The Real World???

Looking for the sixth ending took forever... Getting into that idiot house took a while to find I kept hitting new death points.

Sixth Ending I got The Insanity Ending

Some Writing Problems:

-When walking down the infinite hallway and you keep going till death there is a line that says:

"I have to hand it to you, player.

You're determined."

That took me out of the experience

- Maybe a line like: "You are determined to keep going" would of fit better.

- There was also a choice that said explore the level instead of explore the hill or area. (in the dollhouse hill area)

Bugs:

- The picture when you are in front of the tunnel is broken

Took about 1hr and 30 minutes to find every ending really enjoyed my time with it. After reading the same text over and over I just started going on YouTube waiting till I got to a choice I know I didn't pick. (this is only a problem if you go for all endings)

Was the game done in 1 day or did you spend a total of 24 hours on it? (If one day I would say very good job)

Nice Game!

Really good game with a good horror vibe. Bessie is huge!

Was able to collect all of them without getting caught but I got curious what getting caught is like so I intentionally got hit and was not disappointed.

Didn't have music or much sound effects but with the vibe you were going for it didn't feel like it needed it.

Love the pixel art and the design of the gnome and Bessie. Wish I could see the take on the pixel art village.

Good Game!

Really like the game.

I was confused for quiet a bit after following the footprints as the trash felt out of place and not intractable but I figured it out.

The music was nice and chill.

That rotary magic was hilarious!

I like the little attempted scare with the lights and the door.

Wish the art style was more cohesive but the game looked good.

Good Job! Nice Game!

Very ambitious type of game for a Jam.

What I Loved:

Like the mechanic of adding cats to upgrade the speed of the buldings

Like the music was very chill

Love the little cat sprites and their animations

What needs Improvement:

Not knowing that stone is in the top left and ore is in the bottom left put me in a bad spot at on my first play through and I had to restart as I was soft locked.

Needed a bit more guidance on how to play as I got defeat the first time even though I felt like I did everything right and had a army strength of 8 vs the enemies 4

After my fourth defeat is where I started to understand the game well enough to play

I notice the every time I place the training ground no matter what it would say I have unassigned villagers so I couldn't build up any soldiers at all... I restarted the game multiple times to try to fix this issue. Always am getting a game over in the first fight.

I found some pretty big fundamental issues:

On my fifth run I was somehow able to get one solider and win the fight 1 (the training grounds still kept on saying no unassigned villagers even though I have 14 unassigned) after the victory I lost the soldier and had to hope to get another one for fight 2

Continuing the fifth run the war time was nearing and I was desperate to get even 1 solider assigned so I starting placing multiple training ground in hopes one of them would glitch me one to win fight 2.

I tried to place training grounds all over the map thinking it was a placement glitch but even at 151 active workers and 229 total villagers (78 unassigned villagers)  and 8 Training grounds I was unable to glitch one into my army and lost.

Needs Work but I see what you were going for.

Loved the game.

The music was great

The art style was really pleasing and fun

The game mechanic of hamsters going into tubes to their other home is a good take of theme

The difficulty seemed to spike at random intervals I found all level easy except for level 3 and level 8

Wish there was a reset button to reset the tubes and try again (specifically for level 8)

Good Game!

Finished all the levels.

(1 edit)

Really nice game loop, I didn't really starting duplicates until level 24.

The game feels well polished and the music is a jam.

Love the creature and art design

The difficulty curve feels really good

I wish is would simply highlight instead of zooming in really fast to the creature you missed so I could know where the creature was.

The later levels I was just zooming around so quick looking for those specific features like one eyed or smiling

Good Game! Really fun!

Highscore: Level 26
