Please leave the permadeath feature in Ogre Dungeon optional via a menu choice.   The check point thing I am still confused over and the save system, but it appears that when death happens all is wiped.  The gold stays but nothing else, and I havent found a way to load the game from last check point after death.  Can you please please add a mode or option that allows you to choose no permadeath and to load a save from your journal.  I think this would also boost your sales greatly on Steam, because players want to have some control over their game if they so choose.  The choice to restart from a checkpoint or load a save would make me a grateful woman. .  A lot of people are coming back to this genre again, like in the old days when games like this were popular.   Its a classic traditional roguelike, it is timeless.  It is also the type of genre I stream on my Youtube and Twitch channels, to help Indie Devs promote their games.  Roguelikes, Traditional Roguelikes, and bullet hell games come out of the wood work now, but many are just done by lazy developers.  I only promote and stream games by Indie Devs, who show great care and respect for their work and their paying players.  Devs who update their games regularly, communicate regularly with the players/community,  and who show a willingness to make changes/fixes to their game based around community suggestions.  This is what you seem to be doing, so I will continue to do play throughs of this game on my channels in hopes of getting you the traffic you need to make sales.  Your talent is impressive and everyone should be buying this game and giving it a try.  I posted this also in your Steam forum  discussions page, in case you missed this.  But yea, the option to play stress free would be huge for many players, I got a lot of comments about it when streaming Ogre Dungeon.  "Wait is there an option somewhere to load a save!!!??."  That was one of the main questions I got from viewers. One suggested you put it in during character creation stage or in the menu.  Like a toggle or check box option?  I think the  need for this stems around the amount of time some of us play on one character and the hard work put in.  Just to die and keep no progress but gold.  I would also highly suggest a meta upgrade system that has an expansive tree of skills, stats, and progress to be saved between runs.

ok im blind i cant see the dl files button.  The grey text still hides into the black. Like our names next to our avatar picture....they are dark and so they melt with the black page color.  But my point was that I dont see the "download files button" on here. Also how do you craft, and why cant i rebind the keys on my keyboard (please put in gamepad support  later :) )  I went into the controls menu and was like clicking them all insane haha.   This should be on Steam asap so everyone can see how talented you are.

OMG YAY THANKS U ARE AMAZING. This looks so nice.  What is electron version.  I just needed the simple windows one lol.  You are so talented btw.  Love this game.

I need help because the game is impossible.  I added some people to friends from Steam to ask for help who put up screenshots of stuff I dont even see in this game.  I asked Steam support what was going on and Itch.io...as the screenshots are again...different.  Showing towns and much more content than the hours I spent getting killed looking for 4 gems with no tutorial.  I paid for this game and now I am upset because Steam is saying I may have been scammed. The red flag comes when you are in a loop stuck in a game by a troll dev who has no intention of allowing someone who pays them to access the areas shown in the screenshots.  The game was represented as a full long rpg with tons of content, dungeons, towns, gear, and the abilities to interact with items and craft.  I cant interact with a single thing in the forest but the stones.  I killed thousands of orcs got one stone.  So I am working with Steam to take down whoever did this to me...I am angry.  The other options is for me to hear from the dev and get a full copy of the real game or tell me he will fix things.  I need to know why all things have vanished from the game like a full menu, the links to discord, all the screenshots shown are nothing like what I bought.  Your picture here...shows berries.  I cant collect berries.  Fix this or I will spend the rest of my life getting revenge for being scammed online.  Yes its my first time....and I dont like it.  I feel a little crazy right now Im sorry.  Spent hours in a forest with unbalanced enemies coming at me.  No one needs an online stalker....but here I am mad that I cant access what I paid for.  Fix your game and respond in full as to why you removed all your contact info like links to discord.  At that point, I will relax and work with you instead of against you.

terrible game.  too small to see anything, clicking doesnt work.  just make the game using what people know.  QWERTY or just mouse click to do everything.  The character eats and moves where they want btw.  The keys to move dont work.

yea i think two things need to happen.  Your page here....needs to be white background.  Its so dark with this black and grey field to type in.  On bigger monitors it comes up all dark.  Also the game is huge on the browser version.  I have to do a 50 percent screen reduction.  Please help a girl out

ok well i appreciate it this game is amazing.  Where is the link im dying here

Hey Oli this game is hard to play in browser.  Can you please allow us to download it. Windows please

Hello to the developer. So man, if you are new at this dev thing, i am sorry to sound rude lol. But this game has to be sped up in order to make it.  Even if its not on Steam or doesnt go anywhere, eventually players are going to be tired of the pace.  Please can we have a way to speed up that fight DRASTICALLY when you explore.  In fact all actions should be sped up.  The fact the fight has multiple targets that take such low damage and yet they have so many hp is like pulling teeth.  I streamed your game here via my Twitch and Youtube channels and there was a hugely positive reception until the fight went on too long.  I think your game is unique and will go very far if you do what I said above.  I am going to continue to promote your game on my own because I think you should be able to sell this game and reap the rewards of your work.  But in the meantime try to keep doing updates and fixes to make the gameplay more enjoyable.  If you are a newish developer...then way to go on getting this far and all the amazing ideas you put into this.  If you arent a new developer, then you have something truly genius rolling around in your head.  You have made this doubtful girl, a true fan!

dude why would you say to right click a tree.  On browser you cant use right click in the game at all.  Please allow us to download it.

please put a download link for this game on the page.  The browser version doesnt work.  When you press create world it does nothing.  Thanks.

reported you to itch with the help of a whole lot of other people who are mad.   You are a total moron to do this crap so openly.  Like...are you slow in the head?  Brain damage? On meth?  Or is it just that you are a thief and liar?  Klei also found out.  And for your sake....I hope you are as lazy and poor in real life as you are here on Itch.io, stealing games.  Because when Klei comes to sue you......you wont have to pay anything if you are jobless and poor.  But if you have anything at all or own anything...buckle up...you are in for a ride.

My God...just genius! The ability to write all that takes a level of intelligence, knowledge, and thought process...that is so rare these days.  Did you seriously just write all that yourself, because that is amazing lol. To be totally transparent and maybe a bit TMI, I will share the following aftermath of reading this with you:

I was sitting here alone.....I thought I was anyway.....and I am reading this silently in my head.  After awhile, I am just SO impressed that I end up being, "unsilent", by saying to myself, in an overly loud and enthusiastic tone:  "Wow....assuming this is a man, I am beyond ready to divorce my husband for him!"

I immediately regretted it, because I am now moving my desk to the other side of the room, so my chair does not force me to sit with my back to the doorway.  This is due to the fact that as soon as the above words left my mouth, I heard from behind me, a much louder voice say: "Babe, that sounds like a great idea to me!  Why don't you go get your purse, and hand me back all my credit cards first?"

Needless to say I am still married.

no no my friend, i want to pay for it the full game I mean.  But there also is no tutorial for this game.  I keep clicking and dragging and nothing merges.  Its incredibly slow game and you have to have the patience of a saint to play it.....and I do....so that is fine with me.  I just really would like the villagers to walk faster is all lol.  The bugs I think that exist are that the game does not respond to clicking hardly ever. Especially when dragging and merging. I think i am either not doing something right because there is no guide or full tutorial....or because there are bugs. I just want to be sure if I buy it that all the kinks are out with that aspect.  On that note, does the full version come with a tutorial?  Or maybe you can just tell us in a new post, how to play and do something as fabulous as you did before.  You know with the coding explanation for the custom settings for players lol.  I have a lot of patience yes, but only when I know what I am doing and something works.  Also, is there a way to make the land the little villagers live on bigger.....or is the black around the borders just like dead space haha.

Hey there, Mr./Ms. Developer.  I wanted to tell you that when I saw this Wayward game up, I was the happiest girl ever lol.  Thanks so much for making it. I also saw the other game you were working on, Dungeon Reborn.  You posted it was free, its nowhere to be found for some reason. It said published last July '25, but then says updated 3 months ago, which is something that happens frequently on this website.  Lol, that is because Itch will say a dev has a new update on a game, take a player to the download page to download it, but then the version number shown and date on the download is from ages ago.  It never reflects the updated date on the dev's page, under "more info".  But yea, there is no demo, browser version, or pc download on the page for Dungeon Reborn.   So was wondering when it was last updated, if you are still working on it (if indeed you updated it 3 months ago), and if I can please play it somehow.   I never got a chance to try it as I just found your page and am a huge fan already.  How do I get in contact with you, maybe Discord or something?  Steam page?  You are so so talented btw, cant wait to see more, and please post here in the comments every so often to check in or say hi.

There is an issue with the attack that you shadow step.  Every time you do what the tutorial said to do..hold down the button and release at the target...it does nothing.  It just shows a smoke poof.  Please fix this.

Not only is this game absolutely adorable but it is pure genius.  Id pay 20 bucks for it on Steam btw.  Please please continue to develop it.  Im trying to figure out how to get stone because im on easy mode and its so far, yet there is no way to upgrade anything without stone to get past the mobs.  Is there a way to set my spawn point again somewhere so I can run, die, run, die, etc lol.

hey there, so I am obsessed with this game.  You have no idea how much fun me and my coworkers are having with this lol.  But how do you get more stuff to craft in the craft table, the other ores etc, and new paths to open.  Also what is the puzzle thing with holes on the upper path.  OK thanks.

yes but what we are saying, is that we want bonuses for the achievements that feel good and are useable.  Like rn the achievements or relics even that are given are either non existent or give so little.  The achievements give nothing, and the relics take a ton of work to get all the parts, then the reward for each when completed is so small it doesnt do much for our build.  Thats what we mean.

ok yea i mean i would love to see this be a full game and help you out.  I would ask you allow us in options maybe..to remove foliage lol

greenNeko, why does it say that the patch and fixes etc were done several times yet the download says its from 2 months ago.  Please update it so I can continue to support you my friend.

hey there to the dev.  This game is absolutely amazing.  Ive been a publisher for many years for a big gaming company and this is so unique, i was surprised that it isnt on Steam.  I just wanted to let you know that you have something special here and if you continue to work on it, as well as put a download here so players can play it on their pc, you could make a lot of money.  Put it up on Steam as a demo, add a download link here for the game, and add a meta upgrade system in the main menu. You should allow players also to use a gamepad if that is something you can swing.  I was also thinking about how the game seems to be really too hard too fast.  Maybe ramp it up a bit slower as the foliage is a huge problem.  You cant get the heals necessary due to them being blocked. Allow us to remove the obstacles maybe by a toggle option or remove some of them.  If you can do all this, I would love to help you, no i am not asking for a thing in return.  I just think its unique, like I said and I want to see more.  I cant like do anything magical for you, but I can do what my job allows me to do, and get the word out about. I can do this via my company's social media pages, and have one of our testers stream the gameplay through our Twitch and Youtube accounts.  Put it up on Steam first as a demo I think it will be a huge hit there, and like I said, I feel you need more traffic to come towards the game.  More people to play it and see it can happen on Steam. Then you can do it as a coming soon and get tons of people ramped up about it.  You can take your time and tweak things through help from the Steam community.  When you feel the game is ready for a 1.0, or just read to be sold, I believe you will be rolling in money.  I love this game so much, so thats why I want to collaborate with you.  Again, nothing in return asked at all.  Just want to see the game go further.  Thanks and let me know what you think.

i want to Buy this but no matter how hard i try i can not understand what to do.  you need to give us a proper tutorial and easy instructions.  Nothing makes sense and its messed up you cant move either.  please explain exactly how to play.

You need to get paid for this...you could be the next Poncle.  Its got that new exciting Vampire Survivors WOWSA thing going on.  When that game came out people were like oh wow I kind of hate this game and love it at the same time.  Your game is unique like that game, albeit different genre.  Keep at it hon, you have so much promise in you, it's insane.

As a Devhunter/headhunter for a major publishing company/developer studio...I just want you to know that this is one of the best games I have ever played.  I actually got yelled at today for sitting quietly at my desk in my office playing this game.  My boss: "DID YOU FINISH THE CALL WITH":

(*Insert our newest prey's name here........the young man has no idea that he was hunted and stalked before he sold his soul to my company's CEO.  The talented indie developer exchanged his personal life and free time, when he agreed to be poached from his former place of employment.  They offered him a pay raise of .32 cents an hour, if he agreed to stay with their company; and our CEO destroyed them by offering to pay the eager lad, a raise of 32 dollars an hour MORE than what he was currently making, at his now past employer.  How could he say no right?  The man now believes after signing 8 NDA's, and the hiring agreement packet, that he will be working his dream job, having fun, and yucking it up.  I heard the proud tone in his voice, as he gushed to his parents via FaceTime; about how he is now earning roughly as much, as an attorney or doctor.  No, no....he will work 7 days a week at the company's beck and call.....too bad he didnt read the packet he signed.  Otherwise, he would have understood, that he will spend the majority of his time, being blinded by a monitor or laptop screen, more often than he will be blinded by dollar signs.*)

Sorry for that overly long story above, but yes, I was caught being several different turtles instead of working lol.  I know you could put this game on a platform like Steam or GOG, and make a ton of money.  I would pay over 10 dollars for it in a heart beat.  You are amazing at frequent updates and communication with the players.  Consider it and try some of those platforms out for yourself.  You will see...I promise you.  You have the makings of something great in the future.  Something special that isnt seen too often, you have the total package when it comes to everything an Indie Dev should have and needs to be a rising star.  Please keep the game going on I cant get enough of it lol.  I have not found a single bug yet btw, and I have only one complaint to bug you about.  I was a sad girl when I went to play the game again and realized my save file didnt work anymore and I had to start over today.  I had most of the game completed already and spent an obscene amount of time grinding out everything the game asked for.  So, I was wondering if there is a guide or somewhere to find out things to make this go a bit quicker for me.  If I had a wiki or guide explaining all the secrets and things to know that will trigger everything to happen...and how to go about getting things in a strategic way...I would feel much better.  Of course, after I realized all my progress was lost, I did what a woman with my skill set does.  I looked through all the game files and coding, to find the hidden (and always present), "developer sandbox area/cheat mechanism" that is used to aid a dev, while he/she is testing things out, or fixing bugs.  Ive always seen them in a Json file or notepad type file.  Or it could just be a few button/key presses in the proper order, allowing some really fun stuff to appear on the screen.

(I'm thinking back to the days when I played co-op games with my daughter.  There I am, farming and crafting for my life, realizing I am all alone for some reason, until I see my daughter's character, go flying past my own character, now buried in bushes and logs.  That was always the moment when diamond pickaxes, and diamond armor would fall from the sky onto my massive materials pile.  This flying act of generosity, was always followed by a line of text in the chat bar, in all caps lock: "YAYYYYYY!! YOU DONT HAVE TO THANK ME MOMMY, YOU'RE WELCOME!  GRAB THAT SHIT I JUST GAVE YOU.....WE ARE GOING THROUGH THE PORTAL NOW!" I accept her offer, not sure if I should scold her for talking like a sailor at 8 years old. But what I AM, absolutely sure of, is that I  can't spend another 200 hours chopping trees and rocks, as she dances around me with her sword, demanding I build her a Minecraft Barbie Dream House.)

Sorry this is so long winded, but you made me a very happy lady with this game.  Let me know about the dev secrets please, I was doing so well before lol.

Hello Mr. Developer.  OMG I am so in love with your game.  You are a genius.  Can ya help a desperate girl out and give me some supporter codes pleaseeee.  I will keep them secret, I swear on my favorite pair of stilettos.

fine fine but this playground of a game is amazing and my bipolar rant above was anger from a person who wants this game to thrive lol.  I cant download it or play it now for some reason.  Im trying to understand the mechanics on my own since ive come to realize I was a bit harsh on you after reading your humbling response.  Can you put up a download button please, I would like to record me playing it after I figure it out.  That way others can understand the game and play it, and we can get you and the game some much needed traffic.  That way maybe in the future, you can post it to Steam and make a profit.  It has a wonderful structure to it and deserves to be seen.

is there a reason that common sense is lacking so much that a dev could not put a tutorial or directions that made sense for this game.  I mean if we cant play it...who the hell cares about your updates.  As a publisher who gets many submissions to our company from Indie Devs....the single biggest issue with them that makes us deny their game is this here. We view it as a lack of intelligence.  There is directions to press E or space.  Thats it. Its sad because this is game suicide for you.  You need to rethink your approach here.

Mr. Dev: Im still confused on waiting for the Odd Realm remake that was spoken of. I really want to buy this game man, but am so confused as to whether or not I should wait for the remake or whatever is coming to buy it so I dont have to repurchase it then.  What do you suggest Mr. Developer.

To the Developer. Going to be a long post but I feel I need to give you advice that I pray you take or have already done in the game because I feel its important.  I dont waste my time usually doing this but this comes from my heart and I believe in you.  So here it is:

This game has the art and graphics of the top devs in the world.  I am stunned.  You have a genius in you that can be unrivaled if Rootborn  has a good mechanical feel to it.  The big issue with games that have great art and seem like they might go far...as well as make the creator very wealthy...is that the mechanics are terrible.  I work for a big publisher scouting talent like yours, so I know when I see greatness.  But that isnt why I am here.  I am here to say that I feel the game is so beautiful that I am going to wait before playing it and give it a bit.  I end up playing right away, when I see games that have potential and then am so upset lol.  I jump the gun and realize that the dev has tried too hard to make the game different.  That simply means games like Stardew Valley, Starbound, Littlewood,  among many others, have the same thing in common.   They made everything intuitive in the game, left no questions unanswered on elements in the game, have gamepad support,  proper accessibility options, and allow the player to rebind the keys/buttons to make the game their own.  They dont take too much power out of the player's hands, by making things overly difficult, or make them stop playing due to difficulty leveling, or finding much trouble earning rewards. This is usually due to enemies attacking too often, too hard/aggressively, and even attacking at all.  Players sometimes like to choose to turn attacks on or off when creating things in this genre.

Another huge issue:  Developers that create games like Rootborn do not allow players to decide if they want to keep all game content in full...when they die.  Permadeath can be suicide for a dev, if they have a game like this and dont let players decide in the main menu options, if they want this mechanic or not.  That is, if the dev feels perma-death of some sort, should be in the game.  Ive heard so many players complain about loving perma death but the ability to turn it off, is what makes the game ALIVE for them. It feels so good to choose to die over and over if they want, and just respawn somewhere with all their items and progress. This goes hand in hand with the importance of having a great meta upgrade system that is expansive and ensures progress, as well as re-playability.  Also known as: the need for players to come back to the game over and over lol.   Another thing that can help these games be profitable and loved by many is to have  very easy menus, bars, controls, and tutorials. Having the option to use mouse to do every action except walking and a few others...is something that is done rarely but when it is...it benefits the dev greatly.  Meaning, allowing the screen to have clickable boxes or bars to choose items, craft, view inventory, and then use another mouse button to attack and do actions.  I see alot of devs who will make it so that tons of buttons on the kb need to be used to do most anything, and I find it totally unnecessary to have to complete actions using any keyboard key if I dont want to.  Why do I have to press E, space bar, enter etc...and not be allowed to change the key even..to loot something.  Why cant we just use the mouse and move on. Thats what I mean.

I reiterate what I said above, concerning movement, controls, feel of gameplay, and other things that seem like common sense, or are familiar with players who love this genre.  If you allow players to relax and just play on their terms, (I see the fishing picture there and no enemies are lurking...that is great) they will come to Rootborn and never leave.

game doesnt work on Steam. Just crashes when it gets to menu.  Also..there is a balance issue with the game on Itch.  lol  you cant earn any money really cause the oxygen goes away as you go up even. So you have to only go a few digs down then up with half the oxygen supply.  Its like dumb math that doesnt make sense.  Please fix it so that it makes sense like other mining games do.

I think even a 4 year old who is making a new game would know to put out a weapon for us to see when we enter the game.  Demo or not..there is no excuse for this type of stupidity.  Not a single person has found one.  Just overkill on the zombies who are too fast and one shot you.  This isnt fun.  There are too many veggies that have too many steps to be able to use them instead of a common sense bar at the bottom to use them.  Im a publisher, and I have to agree with others trying this game..you are a troll as no one is this slow in the head.  The obviously bad key bindings that arent intuitive, and the lack of ability to be able to just use the mouse to do actions.  I dont have a weapon she says but in your brainless video...you show her with one.  Just why....please remove yourself from this site or fix the game.  I am sure you have played other games like this before, made by the smallest minded people.  Just do what they did.

unplayable due to the fact you cant set your own button bindings, nothing makes sense...its like you think we can read your mind and know what all the crap is on the bottom of the screen.  We cant use the mouse to just click on a bar either.  Is this a joke man?  The instructions make no sense on controls btw, there are 7 bars, none say what they are or what to do and the first 3 are unusable.  Take the game down or rework it like every other OWSC game is made.  Simple and everything is clickable.

im here just as you uploaded the new version.  I love it, but would be grateful if I could use a gamepad at some point. But the more immediate things to be addressed include things like: I want to be able to  hold down the left mouse button to attack or collect resources. The repeated clicking is driving me nuts. Next, I love purple, but dark on dark is a bad color scheme for this page. Dark purple with dark green and black makes this whole page so dark, I had to turn my gamma up or I couldn't see anything.  You should change it to white with black font, so more people will be able to visit this page and read it properly.  Before I go any further, I wanted to let you know that as a pub-hunter, (Large publishing companies that employ scouts/marketing reps to find talented Indie Devs to back/support; tend to call their scouts like me; pub-hunters.) that your game has tons of promise and you should put it up on Steam and build on it.  You could make a tidy profit off of it. Moving on:  There isnt too much info given to the players, regarding the build menu and other things in the game. So I suggest you make a hover over feature, that gives a description. Right now, we have no idea what each craftable object or building is, when pressing tab, or what they do even. I am looking for a pickaxe or workbench to craft more tools but dont see anything that looks like one. There is a tower with a flag, for instance. It says it costs 0 wood but I cant place it.  That non stop clock countdown is PTSD terrifying, and the perma death should be an option maybe. Losing all progress is the worst feeling ever to me lol. So can you help a girl out please, and make perma death an option via the settings menus. Or allow the players to choose to save their game every 5 mins or something. There is no pause button either, I tried everything, but the game wont pause with any keys or on screen options.  In fact you have to die in order to exit the game.  And the fog of war seems to be broken.  It is supposed to clear away, or remove the black covered parts after you walk in that area.  It doesnt do that here.

game is broken.  cant do a thing.  wont pick up anything and the night stops for no reason quickly.  This game sucks a donkey dick man.  Reroll your career.

how do you level up.  This game blows a big one

hello, the tent button is missing please fix the game.  Also can you let us download it to windows.  Please continue expanding on this game, put it on Steam.  Its a great game.  Just need to balance the game out a bit I think.   The enemies are too strong and the wall health goes down too fast.  Make a way for us to extend the wall's health, and also upgrade the damage the villagers do.  The house always wins with this game.  It ends in villagers death because the odds are always on the game's sides.

there should be a way to attack the enemies using the mouse or something since the towers dont do much damage and the coin drop rate is so low.  It makes the game unbalanced.  The damage done vs the enemy strength is really far apart.  Fun game tho.

game doesnt work. wont run html file pls do it as .exe or something
