I intentionally set it to be a “get a high score in 60 seconds” kind of game. There’s no set score to trigger an ending. Maybe I should have put a high score table on the itch.io game page.

If you want to make a playthrough, go for it! Thanks for playing!

I was playing on browser. Chrome Version 108.0.5359.98

Thanks for looking into it… I wouldn’t discount the possibility of user error too haha.

It was user error… I missed them entirely facepalm

Solid game. The controls felt very nice to handle. Using the presents as the collectible and a platform was a nice touch.

I love progression-style games. Definitely had that “one-more round” vibe about it. After a while, seeing the same memes repeat after a few days got a bit stale, but that is an easy fix and certainly understandable with a game “prototype”. And good choice of well-known memes… gave me a nostalgia trip as well. One last minor suggestion would be maybe having an explanation of how each of the “stats” (virality, university, etc.) affect your likelihood of spreading and getting fans. Maybe a tooltip or a help menu, or something. Well done, all in all!

Whoa, this was pretty impressive in such a short amount of time. The opening scene really set the mood. I initially did have trouble aiming at the green button to open the gate in front of the mansion, so maybe a reticle or a more prominent one would be nice. Outstanding work, all in all.

I’ll cave in and join the play-for-play. Already sent a rating and comments on your game (great job btw).

First of all, congrats on getting married!

Second of all, I like the textures and models, and the song was rather relaxing. I know you were working on a crunch, but I feel the biggest next steps would be to a) make the camera move only when a mouse button is held and b) prevent locking the jump button when you are very close to a wall. But I feel this was a great start on something cool.

I had a really hard time figuring out what was clickable in the browser window and what the controls and objective of the game were. The text was very hard to read against the background (needs better contrast) and I did not realize you were suppose to click on the tire icons near the text until some time later. I like the junkyard background though.

EDIT: Oh, I just realized it is a 2-player game. Nice touch.

Took me a little time to get used to the movement (some slight ice physics) but once I did, I quite enjoyed this. I think the highlight in this game for me was the polish, such as the level transitions, and dash effects and so on.

Good job learning Godot! I unfortunately, was playing on a Macbook instead of Windows, which makes the Alt/Z/X/Spacebar control combo really uncomfortable for the hand, but I made do (at least until the bees showed up). Graphics were lovely to look at!

Enjoyed the frenetic pace of the game. I had a bit of difficulty with the enemies being placed right along the edge of the platforms I am jumping to, and more often than not, I’d get sandwiched under them or bouncing around them. That was probably my number one killer since it just wasted time while the magma was rising. I did end up playing the game quite a bit, since I enjoy these “just one more time” kind of games.

Enjoyed the way you interpreted the theme of the jam. The music was quite nice as well. I also agree with FaceplantPhilip in that it was a bit overwhelming to have so many attack options to start with. However, once I got comfortable with the movement and mechanics, it wasn’t such a big deal and felt the attack options were pretty well-balanced.

Thanks for the positive feedback! I spent some time reading and watching pico-8 tutorials, and a lot of the game ideas revolved around wanting to make use of the various features and API functions.

I am going out of town for the weekend but I will check your submission when I return next week :-)

Thank you so much for the compliment!

Fun game!

One bug I encountered. If I am playing a round and put the game into sleep mode, upon resuming the game music seems to go away. If I finish the round and start a new game, the game starts at the state (positions, points, moves) before I had put the Playdate into sleep mode. Switching games and coming back fixes this issue.
