A very flattering adventure to be associated with. Who knows, maybe Drukks are from Icelandic myth!

That’s awesome! Thank you, I’m so glad they enjoyed it :-) Did you use Cairn? Are there any things in particular that you thought worked well, or things that you might change / things that were unclear?

Thank you! I was worried about it being too blue but glad it worked :-)

Thank you!! Please report back if you use it :-)

Haha, I didn’t realize until I reviewed yours that we both had a jökull in our modules! They absolutely could be neighbors, and I think they could offer a nice contrast in tone. If I ever end up running my module in a campaign, I’ll put yours next door :-)

Thanks for the kind words!

Thank you so much :-)

That’s very kind of you, thanks! If you do play it, I would love to hear from you.

Thank you!

Thank you :-)

Thank you! Yeah, it was supposed to be pretty open-ended. PCs might find it enough to simply explain the cause of the swords / draugr to the locals, or they might try to somehow seal the iceberg or prevent the eruption of the volcano. I do agree that it might be a bit too open-ended, though.

Another person said the same thing about Cursed Scroll; I have that zine but I never actually read it! I will have to do so. Please report back if you ever end up using this with CS!

Thank you for your kind words! I’ve never actually played a BORG system; if I ever run this maybe I will use one.

I definitely wanted to make some of the swords magic, but between my lack of space on the page and the last-minute nature of my entry, I didn’t have room. I encourage anyone who might play it to do so!

That’s so cool that this is your first RPG publication! Looking forward to more :-)

As for the illustrations, while they didn’t seem to be obviously related to a specific NPC or idea, they did contribute a lot to the overall vibe of the module :-) I would have been disappointed if they weren’t in there! And they did break up the text, like you said.

I hope your campaign continues and/or ends well!

Thank you! I actually have that zine, but I’ve never opened it… Looks like I have some reading to do :-) Please do let me know if you run it!

This is fucking hilarious. Not only that, the vibes and lore are both very rich. I can see my players having a blast exploring this place.

Information design is good and easy to understand, though the paper texture makes it a bit hard to read. I would also appreciate having a few more details about each location and NPC—I just want this to be longer than 4 A5 pages!

Great concept, I love swamp stuff :-) Nice layout and use of art, though the text is hard to read on some backgrounds. If you have time, it would be great to have a high-contrast version!

I like the exploration procedure, but I think it may take a while to reach 10 (maybe if off-track gave -1 instead of -2, that would help?). I also think it could be cool to incorporate some sort of player agency in the exploration; i.e. once the players realize that navigating the Mirefen is an act of will, they can go faster, or something like that—a way of making it a bit of a puzzle.

I laughed out loud when I saw the reveal of the prince—a perfect mix of fun, gross, and unexpected. I’m not sure I totally understand how the amulet works, but I really like both magic items. Really fun setting, nice work :-)

This is awesome. I love the art, and you did a great job on the map; the style is really satisfying, but it’s very readable. I would have liked to have a bit more detail for each of the locations. The information was generally easy to digest, but I was confused by Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser; I was unfamiliar with the heroes, but I was more confused that they weren’t mentioned in the text beyond the cover. The layout is great, though a bit more white space and a few extra line breaks would have made it easier to read.

When I was reviewing the jam entries, I downloaded a bunch of PDFs and read them without looking at their itch pages. I felt there was some important info missing, namely that this was written for OSE, especially since the cover says “for OSR games.” I think it would have also been helpful to bold and/or underline the names of monsters which have statblocks.

I really like the real-world game you’ve created with the search for tokens—very creative, and I love a mechanic that changes up gameplay—though I do think I would have a hard time keeping them all hidden during the first few hours of play!

The content of the adventure, the timeline, the characters, and the nature of the fort defense are all rich and inspiring, and I would have a fantastic time running this game! Excellent interpretation of the title they gave you; it’s very clever and the adventure fits the vibe perfectly. I’m a sucker for seaside adventures, too, so I’m hoping to use this in the future :-) Really great work!

This is great. Super easy to read and it seems like it would be easy to run. The locale and the NPCs are very flavorful, as well as their items / reactions etc. I do wish the Marquis and Mirabel were a little more fleshed out—I can imagine they would be very popular with my players, but it’s not clear why they are here and whether they would help the PCs. Obviously that’s a call I can make, but I just felt like you have something in mind and I would love to have that info!

Great adventure, easy to read, seems like a blast. If you get the chance, you could make a printer-friendly version without the colored pages :-)

I love the first page; the text is super flavorful and explains the goings-on well. I also love the style of the illustrations! (Though I’m not clear on what the owl / plague doctor represent.) I think the layout could use a bit more white space to make it easier to read. I also found the bolded text (death/unmortality/etc) to be a bit distracting; I think using the bold more sparingly would make it easier to understand when you’re introducing a new key concept which you’ll explain later.

I personally found the second page to be spread a bit too thin; there are so many locations that you don’t have enough room to provide more information about them. If I ran this, I know I would feel the need to do lots of extra work to flesh out the areas, but I can also see how someone else would enjoy that work! Regardless, I think it’s a great adventure hook and I think it would be a blast to play. Great little module.

I love this kind of “tri-fold” design, I never would have thought of it! And I LOVE the map and illustrations, they’re beautiful. Very rich locale and cool factions. The mechanics of the Ashborn and Ash Lung seem like they would be a blast in play.

I personally find the body text typeface to be a bit hard to read, and I think it would be good to bold or underline some of the key concepts and factions when they are first mentioned to imply that they will be explained later. I found myself needing to reread a few parts to fully understand. Other than that, really great work!

Thank you! That’s a good point; I’ve just uploaded another PDF with 6 individual pages. Not print-friendly, since each page is so long and skinny, but should be more ideal for your phone/computer :-)

Thank you! Let me know how it looks if you end up printing it :-)

Thank you!

Your words are very kind, thank you so much :-) I actually haven’t been able to print this out yet; if you do print it please let me know how it goes / if there are any issues!

thank you! :-)

Hi James! Thanks so much for your comment. I’m surprised some people are still finding this module.

I just uploaded the single pages version–I can’t believe I had never uploaded it in the first place! Thanks so much for letting me know. Let me know if it looks good to you and if there’s anything else that would be helpful.

Thank you so much! Yes, it’s supposed to be a map of the Sinking Temple, but this project is unfortunately unfinished. There are many illustrations I’m planning on adding, but it will probably be a little while before I can fully finish this.

Feel free to reach out if you have any other questions, but it should be playable as is! …with a bit of extra DM creativity for the Temple ;)

Thanks so much for the kind words! Which version (what filename) did you download? I don’t see the map number errors nor the ‘X lives here’ thing on my end, but it’s certainly possible they’re there. (Edit: you must have been talking about the screenshots, I just fixed those!)

As for the no roads, it’s a pretty unpopulated and wild forest, so the idea is most folks travel by river. Maybe I’ll add a note about that!

Thanks for the feedback and the interest! I’d love if you made a version for BIND, and I can get you a numberless map, but in both cases you might want to wait a couple weeks for it to be fully done! I’ll hit you up on dice.camp :)

Awesome, please let me know when you play how it went! :)

Hi! I’ve been homebrewing for TTRPGs for a while, but this is the first time I’ve published an adventure. It’s a puzzle- and exploration-heavy adventure with ample opportunities for roleplay and battle. It’s game system agnostic! Free to download, donation optional :)
