Hey, I need some help with managing builds on my project.
I originally uploaded the paid version of my game as an external file on Itch due to its large size. I recently started using Butler to push builds (which worked fine for the free version, now downloadable through the Itch app), but I can’t figure out how to convert or overwrite the existing external file build into a native Itch build using Butler.
My idea was to just push a new version using Butler and have it overwrite the external one, but I can’t get it to work. I also couldn’t find anything about this in the documentation.
If I create a new build with Butler, will people who already bought the game still have access to it? Or will only new buyers be able to download it?
Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!
Only the free version is available for download through the Itch app. The paid version can only be downloaded via the website.
Originally, the paid version was uploaded as an external file, and now I’m unable to convert it into a “native” Itch build. I can upload a new version as a separate build, but I’m not sure if people who already purchased the game will have access to this new build or if it will only be available to new buyers going forward.
Thanks a ton for the invaluable feedback, seriously, this kind of detailed breakdown helps a lot. I’ve already fixed about half the issues you pointed out, and the rest are being worked on.
NPC hostility, interaction glitches, and sex scene softlocks are all fixed, NPCs now have proper factions, so they won’t attack everything on sight anymore. The interaction system has also been cleaned up to avoid bugs like falling through the floor or getting stuck in scenes.
Character customization is back and will be reintroduced in the upcoming Build 62, which is just around the corner. It’ll give players more control over how they want to look and play, which I agree is essential.
Shift freeze is still a known bug I’m ironing out, and I’m also working on clearer control instructions, a better stat UI, and reworking the world collisions, especially around buildings, where the hitboxes can be off or frustrating to navigate.
A sandbox mode and dev tools are on the wishlist too, but for now I’m prioritizing getting the basics solid.
Really appreciate you trying the free version and giving thoughtful feedback. It's encouraging to hear you see the potential, I’m committed to making it a fun and polished game. 😊😊
The game is far from complete, the people inside the wall for now can only be faced in combat but on next release there will be a downed state(already made) and you will be able to capture them and sell and fuck
Tbh this build 60 was a rework on many stuff, I added combat a new inventory and locomotion system, also a procedural world system, now that these base systems are ready i can finally work on porn and content, join my discord to follow the updates on first hand
For now it's useless, I was creating a more secure standalone authentication system, right now I need to have public and supporter version, but with these keys I can have only a single version and to unlock the full game a player would need to input a key, default stuff used in other games, but I need to setup my own server to handle authentication first
It's not your fault it's really confuse by design, I'm sorry for that the current version is also lacking in gameplay a lot, but on the next update(that is delayed but it is coming) the gameplay mechanics are going to get massively improved not only in function but in a way for them to make more sense
