The Empire Did No Wrong

https://youtu.be/PnM6-iU9zi4

This one has such an incredible promise for more levels and as a puzzler I've never seen anything quite like it. Well done!

https://youtu.be/9gIpib8ba9c

Loved this one! Definitely could be a little harder - more guys, different types of doodads, etc.

Also, for the record, 6600 high score right here.

If you don't mind a poorly recorded video, we attempted to build a circuit; however, there wasn't a goal piece to build out to the end. Or maybe we misunderstood. Turns out it's a lot of fun hitting the balls with the sticks, though!

Thanks XanderHD! XD

Subscribing to this topic. Let me know when it's live and i'll give it a shot, too!

Let my kids (who had seen this on youtube) try this. The sheer giggles out of this title. Look forward to more!

Glad you enjoyed it! I've been wrapped up so much with the MSI jam that i've not had a lot of time for fun projects like Orbital Cow 2 :D Have a lot of catching up to do!

That said, not sure how or why the Zika file set was set to disabled for the download. Didn't receive a notice about anything. I've unhid the download, but fair warning: lower expectations. Super low. Then lower then another three feet :)

Not sure I follow. Are you suggesting a mobile app?

You bet, wouldn't be a problem at all. Depending on what all you're looking for, there's also a VR testing community on reddit. https://www.reddit.com/r/vrtesting

Can message me there or here. I'm viveaddict on reddit.

Since I feel bad not producing a video this week, I've created a playlist representing games that I enjoy that are feeding creative energy into Coinvault. Enjoy!

No video this week folks. I'm working through the user interface changes. The most recent attempt just failed miserably. So, I'm working on a new solution that hopefully won't fall apart on me. Sometimes you follow a path and turns out it just doesn't work. Let's see what next week brings!

0.1.3.1 : The One where the Door Codes are all 2244.

At work, need video? YouTube Walkthrough

Wouldn't it be cool if you could use W-A-S-D and spacebar, plus mouse look to walk around and help the player?

The big change in this edition of the update is the ability for the Oracle (W-A-S-D and Spacebar, right click for mouselook) and putting in hooks for solo play based on feedback from the /r/vive community regarding PC and VR cooperative play. I'm evaluating how to give the Oracle an AI that it can assist. Until then, Security Spikes!

Fixes ^such:

- Fixed: Silver coin should no longer bob beyond the player

- Fixed: Tossing some coins should feel better

- Fixed: Coins button works for Oracle in home vault

- Improved: If something falls through geometry, that object/monster should respawn at the primary spawn location for the vault. In the case of the home vault, that'll be the secret stone vault with the sword. Beware, if you push monsters off, they will find you!

- Fixed: yeah, yeah, what about new content?

Content:

- Content Change: Timer increased on "Hard" from 60s to 600s.

- Hardvault: On the walk out, added a light with a few crude daggers. If you can make it to the ledge in time and back...

- New Content: Hand models! Point, Horns and Grab!

- New Content: Home vault now has keycard access to an overlook area

- New Content: new raid vault layout to test out new mechanics! Hint: All of the doors are 2244.

- New Content: Crude Daggers

- New Content: Security Spike. Use these to open the doors. It's far more efficient to have your Oracle do it.

Toy Changes:

- Lootbag can be thrown again.

- Lootbag now has an effect when you pickup coin.

- Lootbag is more tolerant of picking up coin in bulk quantities

- Lootbag : If multiple lootbags are added to the scene, the collected loot across ALL of the lootbags counts for the player duo's totals.

- Crude Dagger: You no longer hold the trigger button for a dagger. This way you can move around the scene easier, or toss them with more accuracy.

Oracle:

- Ability: Stun Traps: duration set to 5seconds for 5 oracle points. Traps hit detection removed so it should be possible to move through them while stunned.

- Ability: Gate: Removed oracle points requirement. Instant cast. All loot collected so far goes with player. Sends player back to home vault.

- Ability: Recharge Oracle Points at 1 per 60s.

Drone Changes:

- Can be destroyed with daggers

- Removed rage chip. Drones are not as aggressive. Will only react if see player within 10FT.

Oracle Economy Changes:

- Crude Daggers cost 30cp each

- Flashlights cost 25cp each

- Security Spikes cost 17cp each

- Lootbags cost 10cp each

KNOWN ISSUES:

- Changing camera in home vault may cause disorientation.

- There is a ledge from which You May Not Pass as the oracle. You can sneak beyond it as the VR player.

- Haptic feedback is wonky.

- So much art. Wow. Begging for help soon from artist. Offering wine.

- Need more abilities and progression. yes! Agree. Some ideas, share yours!

- Draft Ability: Coin Bonus - coin bonus every coin worth ++

- Draft Ability: Close All Doors

- Draft Ability: Zap Drone - zap a drone

- Draft Ability: Shadow Step (return to random spawn location in map)

- Kiosks are still missing for VR player-- I'm evaluating their functional utility.

Combat Iteration: https://youtu.be/8_kWZa95Tic

The little world view is really neat. Here's my attempt at playing-found all 5 stars and burned all the trees. Win!

https://youtu.be/tV5yo-3ugcs

There's probably some obvious stuff, but some general ideas:

  • Having some little critters walk around and birds flying
  • Add a guy in a boat fishing
  • Need something to collect them stars, maybe a flying saucer since you're in space?
Putting in your itch tag was really good. I can't believe i never thought about doing that in any of the stuff i've done. D'oh!

The road to 0.1.4 has a few important stops along the way. While the ultimate goal of 0.1.4 is to have the VR User Interface returned back to the player's primary home vault, I have aspirations along the way that I want to complete and have ready.

  • Improved investment systems
  • Basis of a combat engine
  • Improvements to the art
  • Oracle enhancements all the way around
So far, here's how things have shaped up:
  • 0.1.3.1 - Introduced abilities for the Oracle and manipulation of world space (doors!)
  • 0.1.3.2 - Many improvements to the Oracle, start of the combat engine, and a serious number of improvements to the art (obviously more to come)

Coming up next:

  • 0.1.3.3 - Combat engine enhancements. Principally this one will be about the VRPlayer's combat experience.
There's a strong chance we may go directly from 0.1.3.3 to 0.1.4, but time will tell.

Well, we outgrew the single comment thread into forums. I've moved the changelog into different posts to keep history, but to also simplify what was turning into a gigantic page.

YouTube Update Review

Are you the world's greatest thief?

Not without help from your Oracle.

The Oracle is your cooperative assistant in helping you complete Vault Raids. Additionally, the Oracle functions somewhat as a game master in helping to steer the direction of play while also being a useful participant.

- Call out warnings "You have an unidentified object heading behind you"

- Spawn tools that the Thief will find useful--until the budget is gone.

CONTROL SCHEME CHANGE NOTE:

In the new Raid Vault, the grip button is swapped with the trigger button. I am exploring this as the alternative "pickup" button after feedback that the grip buttons make it too hard to pickup objects.

Player Home Vault:

CPU Coinvaults:

- Countdown Timer moved to Oracle. You want to know the time before you're toast? Better ask the Oracle!

- New Vault: Darkness, Traps, and Oracle Coordination

- Changed: Capture Device count from 3 to 1 in the sample CPU Vault mission

- Replaced: spinning cubes with razor-sharp blades that stick up from the floor (don't get hit by them!)

- Getting caught: Getting caught by a sentry or impaled by a spike will lose you 15 coin.

- Running out of time: Taking too long means you forfeit what you got and then some. You'll lose 30 coin.

Oracle:

- Added Oracle functionality to change cameras, start a cpu vault raid, review player loot and spawn assistant toys to enable the Thief to perform the task at hand. The Oracle is accessible only from the desktop station. The Oracle is designed to be a real time partner.

Toys:

- Thief may have more than one loot bag in the scene now via Oracle. LootBags are 10 cp each.

- Thief may have more than one flashlight in the scene now via Oracle. Flashlights are 5 cp each.

- LootBag: Now you pickup lootbag where you grabbed it.

- LootBag: You can no longer throw the lootbag to the giant pile of coins. You'll need to get your thievin' self over there.

- LootBag: Thief lootbags in Player Vault will still spawn coins via grip button to pickup and trigger to pull. I am looking at alternative ideas to get the coins to rain.

WHERE'S MY KIOSKS?:

- Well, I discovered Unity's UI library and the Steam VRTK UI system play nicely when one of them is in the works, but when you try to use both at the same time you start seeing all sorts of weird behavior. So, the Kiosks are gone and I'm looking to replace them with something else. A solution will be back for 0.1.4. I'm not sure yet to lean on there being most of the Ui interaction controlled by the Oracle or to split some of that with the player. The cooperative play is very fun!

Feedback welcome!

0.1.2 : Vault Raiding Begins

Are you the world's greatest thief?

So, I asked myself, what if you could fill your vault with goods stolen from other vaults? And I thought this was such an awesome idea that I added a version 1, suitable by itch standards, of this idea!

Now, the question is different. Are you the world's greatest thief?

Seriously, that might be my tagline for Coinvault going forward. I really like it.

UPDATES:

  • Plunder other vaults! For now, there's only one vault and it's controlled by a computer. Don't get caught by the sentries or they'll send you packing. You have sixty seconds to fill your bag with the coins of the vault you find yourself in. Be quick or be caught!
  • Fixed: You'll trip if you try to move carrying the sword. The sword will tumble forward. Why is there a sword? Pffft. Don't ask such questions!
  • Fixed: Moving with the coins sometimes caused them to lumber ahead and then back like a slingshot. Yeah, super annoying. That's fixed. Known bugs on some coins may still have this problem. Let me know when you see a coin with this problem and I'll fix it.
  • In the new coin slot window mini-game, for every 5 coins you'll receive a bronze coin. For every 10 you'll receive a purple. These bonus coins will fall from the coin tube. These coins spawn in accordance with the holy writ of the airspeed velocity of an Unladen Swallow.
  • Added a map so the player won't get lost.
  • Added a list of secret things to be on the lookout for, if such things interest you.
  • Added a stone vault filled with loot. The only way to get to the bridge is to figure out how to unlock it.
  • Added a flashlight so it's safer to cross the dark bridge. Spoiler: there's a secret bridge.
  • Added a daily bonus... that I'm aware of some issues with.
  • Added a terminal to show player's plunder count. The stats here are subject to change.
  • The terminals for vault upgrades and raid gear upgrades is currently locked while I detail how these mechanics will work down at the pub.

0.1.1 Update: The One With Moneybags

By Request, the following changes are now available for your coin swimming ways.

  • The coins now fall from the ceiling via a pipe
  • Refreshed the artwork to make it pop more
  • Teleport added so you can move around the entire vault room. Enjoy the full space of your vault.
  • Added two moneybags. If you pick them up and pull the trigger, you'll open the bag and 20 or so coins will fill into the room. The thumbpads still work for one coin at a time.
  • Removed the vault artwork featuring Lawn Darts VR in favor of a white poster that simply says "Vault 1".

Because there's better titles:

- Added a bouncing magic red ball. It's a space basketball.

And because it's not ready:

- Added a console that you can't use.

Tomorrow. I'm starting tomorrow.

Crazy week.

Just posting for solidarity. :)

Not so secret easter egg:

Listen to your controllers after picking up the cats. I did that just for you.

All of you.

Nothing like timing your release on the day reddit goes down. Ha!

0.1.2 is LIVE, check it out!

Just a friendly note that Version 0.1.2 update is a go for 8/11/2016 on this new tradition of Thursday updates.

I shall call tomorrow's patch "Vault Raiding Begins".

That's all the tease I'm doing tonight. I'm just super excited to push it out. We've had an amazing reception so far (read:holy crap, WE'RE FAMOUS). So, to really up the ante... I'm introducing a feature that I think makes this idea of having a vault to put stuff in... really, really, really interesting. Especially if you think you're a good thief.

You know, hypothetically speaking.

Hello everyone!

I want to note some feature suggestions that we've seen come across. We are aware of these. We haven't started drinking yet to make a decision on whether to add any of these features. Here, I wanted to ensure that (unlike some other very popular AR developers) we make note of what the feedback is. We hear you, we just don't know if it's worthwhile to anyone to add these yet.

  • Unlockable, different vaults
  • A spawn tool to spawn in X# of coins
  • Have the coins drop out of the ceiling (instead of the face)

Let us know if you have additional suggestions either here on itch or on reddit at this link:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Vive/comments/4vk5t3/free_coinvault_gold_coin_simulator_for_vive_owners/
