Just played and beat the web build version, THIS IS SO COOL!! I love the animations you have, and the dedicated sprite for the cultist dying at the end lol. I think I ran into web build specific issues like saving some progress when I die when I shouldn't (like saving the map and parasite grabbing machine).

I had a lot of fun trying to solve the puzzle, and I thought having the map is such a great touch too.

Yippee thanks!!!

Thanks so much! I'm glad the story we hastily threw together was engaging hehe

The difficulty tuning is definitely something that slipped by us before submitting.  I think I woke up the next day and had trouble beating levels 2 and 3 as well lol, so thanks for bringing that up as well. Glad you liked it!

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!! The double stun bug is something I just found recently when testing. It's definitely near the top of my list of bugs to fix if I'm improving the game.

Thanks!! I want to try this out later today.

Mac build pls I want to play thisss it looks so cool :_((((

This is such a fun concept that's simple in all the best ways! If I'm correct it feels like your parasite drains you each time you make a shot, which is great since it makes you have to pick your shots carefully. The animations are so cute. The music is awesome too!!

I also like that you added a high score counter on the main menu, though I think having the score visible while playing the game would be great. I also think I found a funny exploit where if I just let them all swarm onto me but I keep spam-clicking, I could live forever. Also this would make a great base for a simple rogue-like :)) Loved this!!

YESS I BEAT IT!!

If this was your first ever game, this is amazing for 48 hours! My favorite thing about the game is the overall atmosphere created with the uncanny music and pixel art.

Even though the game is short, I thought it's a pretty good adaptation of the Parasite film, and looking at the time mechanic so you can understand their routine is a great touch. I think other people have mentioned some possible improvements, like having better player feedback for being able to place water anywhere, and that you've successfully placed the poison in the drink. Another issue I found was the guy would sometimes duplicate. Overall I thought this game was really well done and well scoped!

This is such great work. I think the "collage" art style is done so well here, and all the animations for humans turning are great.

I do think the whole game logic revolving transmitting the "parasite" is a great design concept, and I felt like I was losing control pretty fast even on normal difficulty when more people were infected than not. Speaking of difficulty, nice replayability with the different difficulty settings.

One thing would be I wasn't really sure what to do with the parasites themselves, and what to do after all the walls are cleared. I thought the little indicators were a great addition, but I had no idea what they were actually pointing to for the first minute.  I think this is a very small problem though and could just be me being dumb. Anyway, this is absolutely fantastic stuff!!!

This is awesome!! I can definitely see this being expanded into a bigger game with these mechanics. I think the sounds and visuals make taking over the body feel very satisfying.

The body fighting off the infection and "reclaiming" parts of it is a great way to add difficulty, and I think can be scaled up easily if you had more levels/reoccurences of this gameplay loop in your game. The only thing I would say is the UX felt a little confusing since I didn't know where was clickable sometimes, but that's a super minor issue.

Overall this is really great and you should totally extend on this in the future!

Thanks for playing, and these critiques are all super valid! Some of things like timings can definitely be tuned better looking back, and minigames overall can definitely be executed cleaner. Overall I'm glad you enjoyed!

Thanks so much! The Russian Roulette idea was definitely a risk to implement but we're glad it somehow worked out!

This is genuinely such an addicting game to play! The nicely-implemented game mechanics aside, the difficulty scaling feels fair and fun, and I never felt like the game was too easy or too hard for too long. The rogue-like mystery item pedestals are also a great touch too, though I feel like some UI in the gameplay section would be really cool.

I liked the music too, and the weird monster sounds that you used. The leaderboard is also a nice touch for replayability!

Overall this is so sick, congrats and great work!

This is really cool! The platformer movement feels nice and I like the retro visuals.

Some more sound effects would definitely make this game cooler though, and maybe some secrets you can get for going on a different path? Either way this seems like a great prototype if you want to extend on this game!

Good work on this!

I can definitely see a game working with this simple game mechanic which is good, but could use some more polish with better theming. I see the concept art with the mushrooms and I think having those in the game would be some help!

This is your first 3D game?? This is so peak! I feel like I just played through a prototype of an indie horror gem, and I love the cosmic horror that comes with the thorn, which isn't something I expected.

I appreciate how the story here is so simple and the gameplay is simple enough to drive me forward without being boring. The whole atmosphere reminds me of salad fingers which might've been an inspiration? Again I think the cosmic horror with the thorn is so well done and the ending actually made me feel something.

I understand the night sections are necessary to hide the thorn being there in the morning, but a critique would be to make the night less dark since I couldn't see anything during the night so I just wait until the morning before continuing to do the chores. Maybe making the night shorter could be a good compromise?

Please make a fuller version with this concept and gameplay I would totally play it :)) Thorn is 10/10

I couldn't tell this was a 5hr project at all! I really like the mechanic of having the pac-men be the enemy and the movement in bursts is such a smart design choice. All the movements being telegraphed before they happen makes the gameplay feel so fair.

Another small thing I noticed was the movement intervals are matched with the music which is another great touch. Really great work!

Very cool premise and the atmosphere is definitely there! I like the model used for the monster and also the flashlight mechanic, though I think the flashlight light cone could be a little wider so I can see a little more.

Overall good stuff and congrats!

This is so cool! From a gameplay perspective this could absolutely be fleshed out into  a full game I think.

Even for a short-term jam like this I can tell there's some good game design thinking going into this. One of the moments where I saw this was teaching you how to use the ricochet skill by putting enemies facing each other diagonally. The ultimate skill is also pretty good attention to detail. Not a big issue but the game feels pretty easy currently.

Overall this was very fun and I can see this being pretty addictive after some polish (and audio!) :)

The visuals and overall atmosphere are so great here!! I like the little puzzles that you are put through, and the voice acting is such a neat touch too. Taking a simple story premise of trying to find your sister is such an effective hook and is super smart for a jam game.

Really want to see a full game out of this!!

The art and atmosphere here is amazing. I can't believe this was made in a week! Also a great take on the Little Red Riding hood story with a dark twist. Should make this into a full game!

This is so cool! Picking a simple mechanic like this and making it suitably challenging is such a feat, and I like how cute everything is. This could definitely be made into a full game I think!
