Hey,

Sorry it’s been almost a year - I don’t really want to make my GitHub repo public because I use it to store lots of stuff like project plans, brand assets, yada yada. But, the source code is effectively open already in the pdx file for a sufficiently motivated individual.

But, I won’t make you jump through all those hoops :) Here’s a gist with the Lua source. Apologies for being a lazy programmer here. It’s all in one file, and I haven’t cleaned anything up for public consumption.

Vienna Bonaparte has posted (and agreed to share) some videos using Magic Musicbox. Share your creations here too!

I was, apparently, unable to keep any of the test subjects alive

I was experimenting with a more realistic experience where I never pay off the loans and instead pursue a post-graduate degree.

Is there a limit to the number of spells you can study? I bought 42 spells and gave up trying to find the limit

Oops! I only responded in discord. Thanks for reporting this bug, I added messaging to inform players when they have spilled the drink :)

I’d buy a macOS version :)

I like the mini-game switching.

I was confused by the puzzle for a while until I realized the wires don’t have to plug into the circuit board.

Thanks for reviewing :)

You can jump at any time, including after you walk off the edge of a platform or after bumping the ceiling. but you only get one jump until you touch another solid surface :)

Try walking off the ledges and then using your jump midair :)

art was great, definitely evokes the feeling of being “out of control”

Day 3, no winners =(

Maybe this will help (warning, spoilers):

I think the issue is we accidentally depend on the game running at 60 fps. You’re probably running at a higher frame rate (we use vsync. is your display refreshing at a higher rate? like 120 hz?)

Movement should be smooth but it seems like it gets weird if your framerate gets too far from 60fps

weird. the jumping is not supposed to be like that :/ (see youtube vid on game page for how it should work)

Nice Job. I enjoyed the puzzles and music a lot.

The in-game text was a nice on-boarding process. Only thing that took me a second to figure out was sending the robot at an angle.

Good adherence to the theme :)

I like how it fits the theme.

Without a doubt, joy is the most powerful ability.

I think (probably?) it could benefit from a bit more balancing of the abilities. Anger seems strong but one click per kill can’t match just sprinting through 8 books at once.

Overall, clever and fun

nice! pretty fun (leaving my review on the GMTK page)

Nice work! since your jump resets whenever you touch a solid surface you can used the edge of the ice pool to hit the ceiling (which resets your jump) ;)

I’ll take a look at your game!

[reposting] Some tips on jumping: you have one jump that is reset whenever you touch a safe surface.

Try walking off the ledge then jumping as you fall to get more distance.

Or jump after you hit a ceiling.

The shooting is broken, we didn’t finish it in time :(

Thanks!

Mainly we planned to add the random magic (which would have made it a bit easier) but ran out of time. Same for music and animation. We will learn to start polishing in the last 4 hours next time regardless of what is ready haha >_<

Great art, great music, definitely feel out of control haha.

The language is solfege? I picked sola because la comes after so and I didn’t want to tempt fate with a minor scale lol

I think the game would be more fun if the dog had more precise controls, there’s a little bit of an ice-skating rink feeling as you try to corral those annoying kids =P

This would be a genius typing tutor akin to number munchers for elementary school math =D

I don’t have a PC, but the game runs fine in wine, another bonus!

The concept of taking over the identity and abilities of opponents you defeat is very clever. I did find it a little more grindy than I’d have liked though toward the end. I guess it wouldn’t be an RPG without that haha
